Wait a minute. We dispersed ten million people, few of whom speak English, throughout the country and homelessness went UP? Who could have foreseen that?
The problem with this article is that there are two types of chargers. One is the type that you will see in parking garages, so called “level 2” chargers. These put ac current into the on board charger which rectifies to dc current. They usually put out ~ 3.5 or ~ 7 kw. Easy peasy, cheap. The second type (there are several flavors) puts dc current directly into the battery. The charge rate varies from a minimum of 50 kw up to 350 kw. Not easy peasy, not cheap. So, without distinguishing how many of each type of charger are being installed, the numbers are useless. BTW, sometimes people refer to the dc charging as “ level 3” but that is not accurate. DCFC (direct current fast charge) is the preferred term.
