A Muslim leader from Ohio who was convicted of lying about his involvement with a group the U.S. government designated a terrorist organization has been deported to his native Palestinian territories, immigration authorities said Friday. Fawaz Damra, 46, was convicted in June 2004 of concealing his ties to Palestinian Islamic Jihad when he applied for U.S. citizenship in 1994. Damra, who served as imam at one of the Cleveland's largest mosques, was deported on Thursday, said Tim Counts, spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Earlier, Damra had agreed to be deported to Qatar.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - As Lehigh University students prepared for final exams this week, they found themselves grappling with the news that the sophomore class president had been arrested for allegedly robbing a bank. "I didn't believe it when I first heard it," Kathryn Susman, an 18- year-old freshman engineering student from Hereford, Md., said Monday. The robbery occurred Friday afternoon. Authorities said Greg Hogan, 19, handed a note to a teller at a Wachovia Bank branch, saying he had a gun and wanted money. Hogan, the son of a Baptist minister, was picked up at his fraternity house later that...

I attended the big Bush rally, held yesterday in Westlake, Ohio. I've heard numbers tossed about from 18 to 25 thousand people. My take is it had to be closer to 25, maybe even more. One of the nicest observations I made was that there were many, many young voters - 30 and younger. From what the media keeps saying, all the younger people are going to vote Kerry. It sure didn't look like it from what I could see. Another observation I made (no surprise) was that there were droves of Christian people (Catholics and Evangelicals) and lots and...

On Sunday, the Lowell Sun of Lowell, Massachusetts endorsed President Bush in an eloquent editorial: "George W. Bush for President." The Sun played a key role in opposing Senator Kerry in the 1972 congressional race that preceded Kerry's decision to attend law school; the editorial evidences the paper's familiarity with Kerry.

Americans should realize that if they vote for President Bush's re-election, they are really voting for the architects of war – Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and the rest of that cabal of neoconservative ideologues and their corporate backers. I have sadly come to the conclusion that President Bush is merely a frontman, an empty suit, who is manipulated by the people in his administration. Bush has the most dangerously simplistic view of the world of any president in my memory.

A FEW YEARS AGO SOMEONE GAVE ME THIS HYSTERICAL QUESTIONNAIRE THAT THE FATHER WOULD GIVE THE YOUNG GUY WHO WANTS TO DATE HIS DAUGHTER. ONE OF THE QUESTIONS ON IT WAS "WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BONE?" ANYONE HAVE A LINK TO THIS QUESTIONNAIRE OR KNOW HOW I CAN GET A COPY?

I have noticed an alarming trend - young men manning the dressing rooms at the shops where the young girls/women buy their clothing. In two of my experiences, the dressing rooms were attended by a young MAN. One store, Delia's, is a clothing store for girls/women! Delia's dressing rooms do have doors. In the case of Hollister's, I complained to the manager on duty and he told me the dressing room is unisex and they will have a guy or gal there watching. Incidentally, their changing rooms have curtains and one can see through them somewhat - plus as anyone...

Steve Emerson was guest on this morning's show. When Dr. Bennett asked Emerson if there were specific groups, places, mosques, etc. that were assisting/aiding the domestic terrorist cells, Steve specifically mentioned CAIR and stated that this group is thwarting our efforts at investigating certain people by causing problems with our government and using the media to their advantage, making it look like the U.S. is not acting fair, etc.

Okay Freepers, I've read some great comments on other threads regarding the good old days and other nostalgia. I'm debating with someone about whether it is more expensive to live today than 60 years ago. I happen to be in the camp that it is a myth that it costs more today. While I do believe we are over-taxed and that the cost of living is very high, I do believe that we have a standard of living much higher than 60 years ago. That, combined with the much smaller families that are the norm now, tends to show that...

Family, Colleagues Remember Doctor's Words and Deeds Just before he went to a cafe in Jerusalem to have coffee with his daughter, Dr. David Applebaum made a few calls to family members in Greater Cleveland. He left a message on a cousin's answering machine, inquiring about his recent shoulder surgery. He then talked to his cousin's daughter about the upcoming wedding of his own daughter, idding the local woman about where she would have been sitting if she had decided to attend the ceremony in Israel. Within about an hour of those calls, Applebaum and his daughter, Naava, 20, were...

I have never posted before so have mercy on me. Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the following: A part-time church janitor suspects men beat him because the pastor preached against homosexuality, police said yesterday. Richard Bilski, 49, of Sheffield Lake, told police that the unidentified men assaulted him Sunday morning outside the non-denominational Church on the Rise after demanding to know when Pastor Paul Endrei would arrive. Bilski said the men then fled, one yelling, "This is a message for Pastor Paul." Capt. Guy Turner said police have no way of knowing the motive for the attack, but Bilski and Endrei...
