Thank you for the intelligent retort.

FYI: Want to tell my brother, who was born in Cuba but came to the US at the age of 3 and became a citizen, that he's not a "real" American, either? He only served in the Army for 20+ years and shed blood in defense of this country and now works as an architect. But hey, I guess according to you he's not a real American, either, and should be packed off back to Cuba, right?

That’s not a plothole, either. The ONE ship shown getting stripped for sellable parts was a wrecked Star Destroyer which couldn’t possibly be repaired. Just because you’re a scavenger, that doesn’t mean you scavenge working vehicles, which is ridiculous. That’s like saying because you work in a junkyard you’ll take your working car and strip it for parts.

That’s not a plot hole. That’s set up for things to come. It’s obvious that she’s got holes in her memory, and that she’s been on that island with Luke, so it’s entirely possible that she’s already been trained in the Force and forgot, either from having her mind wiped or through trauma. Just look at the kids in the prequels being taught the Force. She was older than that when she was ditched on Jakku.

I honestly don’t get it. I’ve enjoyed fantasy and horror and gaming for decades, almost my entire life. Zombies were always the gratuitous ‘trash mob’ threat to adventures, easily dispatched, and usually the matrix for some more interesting threat.

Yeah, but real people aren't the same as RPG adventurers. There's no Wizard hurling fireballs and incinerating 20 zombies at a time, Clerics instantly curing all wounds and zombie disease infections, or Fighters cleaving half-a-dozen zombies in half with their +5 Vorpal greatsword. RPG's are fun, but don't exactly represent reality all that well (I.E. Get high enough level with enough hit points and you can hurl yourself off a building and walk away as if it were nothing where in real life that same fall would've splattered you all over the pavement).
  • ABC Uses Children in 'Young Guns' Experiment to Demonize Firearms

ABC's such a joke. They also did a show "disproving" that an armed citizen couldn't stop a mass shooting by running an experiment in which they sat a student down in a classroom with a paint handgun, put him or her in amongst a classroom of other students, all of whom were wearing heavy helmets and thick gloves, and then had a SWAT Officer run in there and start shooting. The funny thing about that?

    - The shooter was a trained SWAT Officer, which most mass shooters aren't, and so was deadly accurate.

    - The thick gloves which ABC insisted they wear made it damn near impossible for the student to actually stick his finger into the trigger of his pistol, much less get a good grip on it.

    - After shooting the teacher in the class the shooter ALWAYS went for the student with the gun. It never failed. First shot he kills the teacher, second shot he kills the student who has the gun. It was almost like he was told ahead of time which one it was who had the gun. How many mass shooters are likely to be privy to THAT bit of information?

It was so painfully obvious that ABC constructed the scenario in such a way so that it would be an automatic failure every time.

That's my thinking for the most part, except that I think that a large portion of the population suffered from the Active stage version of the virus right from the start. From everything we've heard on the show, it seems the apocalypse happened quickly and nobody really knows how it came about. It was a sudden onslaught and then civilization collapsed. There's simply no way that could've happened if all the virus did was reanimate those who died, because not enough people die every day to produce the necessary amount of Walkers to utterly annihilate civilization so quickly. It had to have killed some people right away, and probably a large segment of the population.

Let's assume I'm right and Patrick was uninfected, but was recently infected with the Zombie Virus. He was dead in less than a day after he started showing signs that he was sick, and his reanimation was practically instantaneous. And from previews it looks as if he's now going to be running into the cellblock and start munching on his sleeping roommates. If that is the Zombie Virus then that perfectly explains how things went down. Large swathes of the population died from the virus in less than a day after they were infected and then IMMEDIATELY reanimated and went on a rampage, likely killing or turning everyone around them. That would explain how the zombie hordes got so big so quickly and why no one really knows how it went down, because those who likely witnessed the effects of the disease were the first victims of the reanimated zombies, and with the speed with which those people died and reanimated there simply wasn't any time to study the situation. It seems that it went from business as usual to thousands of zombies one day, to millions of zombies the next day, and downhill from then on.

The thing of it is that he immediately reanimated as a Walker. It usually takes a few hours, with Shane being a bit quick because, according to the writers, he was in a murderous rage when he died and so there was more "life" in that corpse. Nobody has ever keeled over dead and reanimated literally two seconds later, though. He died, hit the ground, and then a moment later his eyes were open again. So I think whatever killed him has to be related to the Zombie Virus, since it not only killed him but reanimated him instantaneously.

The CDC guy said everyone in Rick’s group was infected, but that doesn’t mean that everyone on Earth was infected. That kid’s circumstances at the time of the outbreak may have allowed him to escape the initial event which spread the infection unscathed, only for him to later get it through other means besides airborne. Although good point on the animals. It does seem like it’s possible the virus is mutating to affect animals.

I bet you 10-to-1 that the kid who dropped dead died from the Zombie Virus that makes them all turn into Walkers when they die. My guess is that:

    1) Unlike Rick and the rest, he was uninfected.
    2) He became infected when he came into contact with Daryl's saliva.
    3) The zombie virus kills most people that it comes into contact with.

Part C has actually been my theory from the start, because there's no way the Zombie Apocalypse could've happened if all the virus did was turn people into Walkers when they died for whatever reason. Not enough people die every day to produce enough Walkers to obliterate civilization. The virus had to have killed people, too, and fast, for civilization to have become overwhelmed so quickly without anyone really knowing what was going on or how it happened.

Given that this kid dropped dead less than 12 hours after getting sick and IMMEDIATELY came back as a Walker, that explains how the apocalypse went down. The virus spreads, a large chunk of the population is killed off by the virus within hours of infection and they immediately come back as Walkers. That would produce more than enough zombies to obliterate civilization in a short amount of time without anyone really understanding how it happened.

You’re misinterpreting that statement. He’s saying that, if you lived in that neighborhood and Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman, DIDN’T get out of his car to follow a suspected criminal, then “you would not take kindly to Zimmerman’s cowardice.” Basically he’s saying Zimmerman was in a “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation. If he hadn’t gotten out, and Martin had committed a crime, then people would be calling Zimmerman a coward for not doing his job as a neighborhood watchman.
