Army officials earlier this month invited staffers with the Arab American & Chaldean Council to Fort Sill, Okla., where they learned about opportunities offered by military service. Church adverts attacked as blasphemousBy Nick Britten (Filed: 31/08/2001) THE Church of England faced widespread criticism yesterday after an advertising drive designed to attract a younger congregation compared body piercing with the Crucifixion. The advertisements, to be put on hoardings, were also aimed at depressed drug users but were branded "blasphemous" and "tasteless" by Christian charities. Aimed at the 18-30 market, which the Church has difficulty trying to attract, the advertisements are part of a more "realistic" approach to halt the drop in congregation numbers. One poster says: "Body piercing? Jesus had his done 2,000 years ago." Another reads: ...

Star of Bethlehem 'was two brilliant meteors'By Victoria Combe, Religion Correspondent (Filed: 30/08/2001) THE Star of Bethlehem that led the wise men to the infant Christ was two brilliant meteors following similar paths, according to a study by Sir Patrick Moore. The astronomer has investigated theories about the nature of the star in the east described in St Matthew's account of the nativity in the Bible. In his book, The Star of Bethelehem, published by Canopus in October, Sir Patrick dismisses previous scientific explanations for the star as improbable. He claims the star was two meteors, or shooting stars, ...

T he Constitution of the United States says in no uncertain words that ONLY congress has the power to coin money and regulate its value. One of the Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto was that they wanted to create a Central Bank to issue all credit - whether to the government or the private citizen.
