Show Low is in the forest. Or was.

Pavement and structures knocked down a helluva' lot of pine.

If a bird hopped from pine to pine, that bird could come into Show Low from any direction. So cold fire.

Knock off your welfare crap and you won't have unwelcome guests. Takes balls, and Californian's don't. So live with it.

Change it, or vote with your feet and split. If that's too much trouble, or inconvenient: then it isn't that important to you, is it?

    Go for it. Legally.

The feds might have an opening in their Colorado crew, if they play fair.

    "Is that not the case?"
    I have no idea.

    "...well trammeled, garbage strewn path...."
Not here, sounds like over by you in California.

What's what point about borders. A bunch of bureaucrats created this so-called border. I had no idea what was in their minds, if anything. My neighbor is my neighbor, and our relationship is personal with us, and not on some dimwick in D.C. that drew a line on a map which has no relevance to the geography, indigenous life, or the desires of my neighbors and I.

I do whatever I can do to further freedom for individuals.
If I chose to offer my guest a cold beer from my fridge, or water from a jug, or shelter, or food, my guests are welcome.

If the feds don't care about life, I do.

If I leave a jug of water on the fed ground, I'm littering.

If I leave a jug of water on my own land, both are my property.

Trying to prove, especially in a court by trial of my peers, that I knew and planned to abet aliens (who are innocent until proven guilty) has the chance of a snow ball in my back yard today.

Unless of course, some fed locks me up without due process, which is a burgeoning unconstitional trend championed by some FreeRepublic readers....

Oil rig fires are ignited petroleum coming through a hole, called a hole in the ground.

Dirt surrounds the hole. Put explosives where the fire is, in the hole. Explosion blows the dirt all around the hole. Collapse the hole and the petroleum can't burn, snuffed out.

Put explosives in the fire of a forest fire and the explosion will blow surrounding matter, which ain't dirt but burning wood, all around. As in spreading the fire to that which hasn't been burning until your scheme arrived.

Keep thinking. Someday will come when your ideas will be embraced by the people needing help. Not today.

Better yet, watch tv. That big red and white old P3 drops fire retardant. When it was in the Navy, it dropped explosives (torpedoes). Probably a good reason for the change.

When you watch tv, please think about the people and livestock that are very close. Exploding burning trees are not their friends.

You aren't the first with your idea, it's been tried, and is not exactly at the top of the list. Not today.

Another metaphor I'm just reminded, is that oil field fires usually do not have adjacent fuel nearby on the surface. Trees are different.

Damn right. For the ones that just want freedom, hell yes!

For the doper mules and coyotes, no way!

For the university tweakers with their boutique brush guard grills who still get their Range Rover stuck, I'll cheerfully point in the direction of the nearest Marriott after I arrange for a tow truck.

With all due respect for you, and a lot of people in Az do so, fed procrastination is not unexpected.

To people here, this fire is a heckuva' lot more urgent than George Jr. convience with the press. If he can't get it all done, we understand. Very well.

Yes, it is a big fire. Wasn't always, but that darn fire went right past (maybe through) the Chedeski Peak LookOut Tower.

Somehow I have a feeling that not a darn bureaucrat will lose sleep, career, pension nor limo.

They might toss Barton to the wolves. Maybe.

Locals told the gummint where the footprints were. Gummint it was fed land.
Locals asked the gummint to either patrol better, or put out water, or pick up the bodies.
Gummint says they're too busy (!) and don't have the resources. They are busy, they've just finished a big report on how many of their vehicles break down.
Besides that, actually going out there means leaving air conditioning!
Locals suggest reshaping water tanks (ponds to you non-participants) to help prevent live walkers becoming dead floaters, or to prevent dyhydration.
Gummint said reshaping, in any way, fed land needs permission from headquarters, study in D.C., consultion with Earth First, Bunny Huggers, and lots of other suits that have limos in Washington D.C.
Meanwhile, gummint says any vigilante reshaping on fed land can result in arrests.
Sometimes the walkers go onto private land, and die in private tanks. Then gummint comes out to write tickets for private property owners having dead bodies. Gummint won't pick-em up, just write tickets. Writing paper can be best done in air conditioning.

Leave water jugs? Hell yes, with food, and good maps to Colorado!

Undersecretary of the Interior J. Steven Griles!
I'm getting too impatient with these bureaucrats!

If you have the resources now, put it out now!

Where were you last Tuesday? You didn't have the resources then? But now?

With all due respect, there are mental midgets that go into areas like that, and stop thinking.

I had the vicarious pleasure, while on voluntary civilian patrol approved and directed by the feds, of spotting and radioing a "family" camping in a closed zone, and yes they were making fixings for a briquet fire.

After reporting, I got the hell out 'cause I didn't want to see the kids faces when mom 'n dad got busted.

I still can't believe it. Amazed even me. I'm still off center. California plates. Whatever. Darwin was wrong.

I think you said No One In Their Right Mind? Yes indeed. And their vote counts the same as mine?

    Of course you are right.

I was doing a poor job of slapping the foulmouth.

I'm told the Cibecue area still has much attention from fed, state, county, res police all doing their thing.

Predictably in this time of chaos, some experts say the fires have joined, others say no, others say yes and no.

The body count of livestock is starting to add up, and the commercial loss of vegetation is staggering. Bankers and insurance people are not looking forward to tomorrow. We here had a contract to buy two dozen horses up there, but they were being range fed, and they've not been seen for two days. Don't know if they're dead, alive, where.........

Sorry to hear of your evacuation. Yeah, I've been in Hop Canyon.
Sorry, also, I sounded like back biting. My intent was to share some of what I hear. I don't condone most of it, and sometimes I'm too eager to share what is to me obvious childish foolish stupid rude stuff. Doggie in the window. Like the person just here whining about where is our military.

I do, however, ridicule the Prescott College teacher who lost house, everything down to melted plumbing, and then opined that he so loved the indiginous greenery that he couldn't bare to clear brush next to his house. Yes, he applied for federal disaster loans.

Chedeski is federal attempt to spell Apache word for "white rock" if I remember. Chedeski Peak is about 7400 ft, nw of Cibecue. Popular rugged road goes nw, up to the Rim. There is/was/hasbeen a Observation Tower just north of the peak. You probably already know that. Used to be a beautiful area. Not many tourists this fall, I'd imagine.

Hope you return OK. With a lot of good luck, your worst future will be trying to get dust and ash out of every nook and cranny. Everywhere. Good luck.

    More fingerpointing than pine needles.

Everybody is blaming their favorite demon. Democrats blaming Reagan, Republicans blaming Clinton, locals blaming city folks, nouveau riche boutique weekenders blaming naive rednecks, everybody blames someone else.
Some really stupid whites blaming Apaches because the fires started on the res. Apaches could blame the white fanatics who insist on paving roads, building golf courses, tennis courts, bars, condos, and then whining about the loss of nature.
No one, yet, has a nice thing to say about the lost hiker who started a signal fire. She needs protective custody and a change of venue.

Thinning? Yo, sure. Get four people discussing thinning and you'll get at least sixteen opinions. None of which can be proven.
