  • An American Credo

I am an American. I weep over the fact that American history is no longer taught in our schools. In its place is a worldly, cynical skepticism inculcated by authors and educators at war with our basic values. I am an American. I cringe at the collection of connivers, cowards, clowns and quacks that passes for our political leadership. I wonder that so many of my compatriots have no idea what America means and show no gratitude for the blessings that are theirs. I am an American. My ranks grow thin; the night closes in. Whether I will be the...

Sheeple is an oft used word when people describe the manipulations exhibited the current Executive Branch and POTUS administration. The Marxist occupy crowds come readily to mind. However, the current astroturf around the George Zimmerman case is, well, astounding. Today, after our insider report, we will connect even more dots. We have meticulously outlined how the Eric Holder Department of Justice was used last year to subvert the traditional law enforcement mechanisms in Sanford Florida. Specifically how the Civil Rights Division, led by recently confirmed for Labor Secretary, Tom Perez, used the Community Relations Service, to assist the civil rights...

The civil rights arm of the Dept. of Justice is now a modern leveraging or enforcement mechanism to insure the aggrieved are paid off as well as protected. The legal terms such as “adverse impact”, “disparate treatment” and others, have been corrupted to apply to black skin color as the common denominator for the application being reviewed. The protective agency, who guard the optics of the Black Grievance Industry, is the Community Relations Service (CRS), also known as the DOJ “Peacekeepers”. The primary role of the CRS Peacekeepers is to protect the image of the Black Grievance Industry. They do...

*** "First, as you consider Denis McDonough, and his role in the Benghazi events, it is worth noting this little before seen short video from 2006 while George Bush was in office. The Democrats had just won the majority seats in the House of Representatives, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were being used 24/7 by the politicos to demonize Bush." ***
  • Vanity:I Need to find article on minimum wage and employment in Guam or Marshall Islands

Vanity: FReeper research help needed. I am trying to find an article or thread that I think I read during the run up to a recent increase in the minimum wage. I thought there was an article that reported that as a result of the increase in the minimum wage, a sneaker company was going to move its assembly plant from Guam or the Marshall Islands to the Far East. My take away was that the local folks, who were getting by on the current lower rate, but were working, were going to be put out of work as a...
  • Freeper help needed finding demographic and census data

FReeper help needed. Can anyone please provide links to sites where employment data by "classification" can be found? I am trying to find an authoritative site that reports employment in specific cities in diverse occupations. For example: "What is the percentage of Hispanic veterinarians in Nome Alaska? "Percentages, by gender, of electrical engineers in Miami?". "Percentages by race, of firemen in suburban and urban Connecticut municipalities." You get the idea. I tried to look at the US census site, but ran out of patience trying to find usable data. When we read stories about discrimination lawsuits there is mention of...

Vanity (?) This evening my wife answered the phone and told me it was the Republican Committee - for me. When i picked up I stated that I was not given any money because I thougth McCain was a travesty and that the way the Committee has been treating [Governor] Palin was an abomination. The nice, polite fellow who called was obviously taken aback and responded with words to the effect of "OK, well thank you for your time". I was a bit surprised that he did not have a response to my disgust with the party. I only wish...
  • The poop on finding penguins: Follow the guano

Scientists looking for lost penguins stumbled upon an effective method: Follow their poop from space. In remote Antarctica, about one-and-a-half times bigger than the United States, researchers have been unable to figure out just where colonies of emperor penguins live and if their population is in peril. It's harder still because emperor penguins, featured in the film "March of the Penguins," breed on sea ice, which scientists say will shrink significantly in the future because of global warming. Because the large penguins stay on the same ice for months, their poop stains make them stand out from space.

On line banking advice needed. I am often amazed at the diverse knowledge of the FReeper community. I need some FReeper advice about on-line banking. For the last few years I have done most of our banking through an on-line bank called Everbank and have been very satified with it. What I particularly like is the way the website shows "scheduled transactons" (for the upcoming 30 days) in the same window as the cleared or pending transactions. This allows me to easily see the effects of a particular scheduled payment and decide if I want to re-arrange the date or...

My daughter, a freshman in college, is doing an outline of a paper on "Should the US set a time table for withdrawl from Iraq". She mentioned it to me a few minutes ago, and the only additional research that immediatly came to mind to get "the rest of the story' is Ralph Peters' articles. Can you think of some addtional sources that she can review? Thanks. (It was refreshing to hear her say that she is questioning the news reports.)
  • Coolest Winter Since 2001 For U.S., Globe, According To NOAA Data

ScienceDaily (Mar. 15, 2008) — The average temperature across both the contiguous U.S. and the globe during climatological winter (December 2007-February 2008) was the coolest since 2001, according to scientists at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. In terms of winter precipitation, Pacific storms, bringing heavy precipitation to large parts of the West, produced high snowpack that will provide welcome runoff this spring. U.S. Winter Temperature Highlights In the contiguous United States, the average winter temperature was 33.2°F (0.6°C), which was 0.2°F (0.1°C) above the 20th century average – yet still ranks as the coolest since 2001. It...

With all due respect to some proponents of national health care, the idea that free health care is a basic human right is absurd and detrimental to the cause of universal health care. Statements like these are so obviously false that they undermine the argument they are intended to support. A right is something that is inherent by virtue of one's existence and are not given to us by others. The claim that free health care is a right implies that some medical professional is obligated to provide it to you free of charge, and that is an infringement on...

IF there was no oil in the middle east, would we pay as much attention to it as we do? We were attacked on 9-11 by a group of Saudi nationals who allege they were muslim. The Saudis reportedly give substantial sums of money to militant islamic groups ("terrorist front groups"). It does not seem that we have called the Saudis to task for their support of terrorists. Could it be for any reason other than the power they have as a major oil exporting country? If we were to become energy self sufficient we could tell the Saudis and...
  • FEMA Underestimated Katrina Repair Costs

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Many initial estimates by the Federal Emergency Management Agency of the cost of repairing thousands of water-logged buildings, cracked pipes and crumbling streets in hurricane-staggered Louisiana were way too low - and some reconstruction projects are being held up because of it. Some local governments say they cannot legally or financially hire contractors and get on with the work, because they fear they will be saddled with repair costs that won't be reimbursed by Washington. The FEMA estimates were made as part of a federal program under which local governments make repairs at their own expense,...

I need some freeper help. I was having a discussion with a friend about equal pay for women (she is earning less than she should, but that is not the immediate issue) and I mentioned I had read an article that referred to a study that suggested that the disparity in women's pay may be due - at least statistically - to women having less time at the job because of child care, etc. i can't find the article. Does anyone remember seeing it? If so, can you please send a link? Thanks

Please help prepare a listing of differences between Republicans and Democrats that we can use in educating our less politically concerned friends and neighbors. (Alternatively, can you recommend web sites that distinguish the parties?). Thanks. Here are some ideas so far: "Republicans believe you should decide how you should spend your money. Democrats believe that the government knows best how to spend your money". "Republicans believe state government is closer to the people and should be responsible for most government services, such as education. Democrats believe that the central government - Washington - should make laws that apply to everyone...

CHICAGO The most important consequence of the new Republican majority in the Senate might well be a remade and more conservative federal judiciary, which will embark on a new program of judicial activism. Republicans, no less than Democrats, should be alarmed. Conservative courts that embrace judicial activism will be just as likely to strike down legislation that has received bipartisan approval as legislation supported by liberals. Bipartisan campaign finance legislation, for example, could be invalidated. Activist courts are poised to forbid affirmative action programs that have support from Republican lawmakers. Most Republican voters favor some kind of gun control, but...

THE ROAD AHEAD: SECURING THE HOME FRONT IN THE 21ST CENTURY October 15, 2001 Speech delivered by Newt Gingrich Introduction: EDWIN J. FEULNER, Ph.D.: Just as Ronald Reagan made conservative ideas popular at the presidential level, so too did Newt Gingrich popularize them for the Congress and for a change in the Congress. In introducing Newt Gingrich again to a Heritage audience, I would only make three points. The first point: When he was named Man of the Year by Time magazine in 1995, they said "Leaders make things possible; exceptional leaders make them inevitable." Newt Gingrich belongs to the ...

NYPD CLEARS DIALLO COPS - WITH RETRAINING By MURRAY WEISS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- April 26, 2001 -- THE NYPD has cleared the four cops who fatally shot Amadou Diallo, but will make them undergo retraining before they get back their guns and shields. The two-year internal investigation laid blame for the tragedy largely on poor tactics that contributed to the officers putting themselves in a position where they feared for their lives and killed the unarmed African immigrant. The report doesn't mention the 41 shots fired by the officers, 19 of which hit Diallo, one source said. "Everyone believes, in the ...
