Big Labor bussed thousands of activists to Capitol Hill Tuesday to lobby for the Employee Free Choice Act—an act union leaders have called their top legislative priority for the 110th Congress. Event organizers claimed they brought 2,000 participants on 62 busses from the Campaign for America’s Future’s “Take Back America” conference to the Upper Senate Park. This Friday, June 15th is the deadline for filing comments with the Federal Communications Commission against the prospect of massive federal regulation of the Internet. MoveOn.org and their liberal allies have been pushing more federal control for some time, and now are about to flood the FCC with comments in support of greater regulation of the Internet. The regulations that MoveOn.org seeks would stifle innovation and prevent Internet companies from offering services in ways that they feel benefit consumers most. For those who read this column, you probably most know me as a an architect of the Contract with America, House Majority Leader from 1994-2003, and more recently as Chairman grassroots powerhouse FreedomWorks... On the Democratic side, we see an abundance demagoguery and proposals for the largest expansion of government since the 1930’s and 1970’s, with socialized health care and severe regulation of the economy, especially the energy sector. Great for sound bites, but a complete disregard for fundamental economic principles.
