Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday said President Biden’s proposed term limits for Supreme Court justices are “unconstitutional” and will be “dead on arrival” in Congress.
McConnell, one of the Supreme Court’s most ardent defenders in the Senate, said he was “surprised” that Biden, a former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, proposed authorizing presidents to appoint justices every two years and limiting them to 18 years in active service.
“I couldn’t be more disappointed. This is a man who was chairman of the Judiciary Committee for a long time. He absolutely knows what he recommended is unconstitutional, to try to limit the terms of the Supreme Court justices who under the Constitution are appointed for life,” McConnell said of Biden.
“That shows you the depth to which they have gone lately to attack the Supreme Court because they don’t like the current makeup of the court and decisions they disapprove of,” McConnell said of Democrats.

“He absolutely knows what he recommended is unconstitutional”

Biden doesn’t know what time it is.
His radical leftist handlers may or may not know it’s unconstitutional but they don’t care
Broken clock alert.
only someone suffering from senile dementia could’ve proposed such unconstitutional rubbish
(like the court or not)
Under WHAT possible authority does Biden think the Executive branch or Legislative branch have control over Judicial?
Why doesn’t he just write up an Executive Order then?
But, I have to think that even the most liberal SCOTUS Justices would be very much against ANY president trying to excerize this kind of “authority” on them.
Don’t ever trust this rino.
Is Biden going to say that McConnell is ‘dead on arrival’ as he did with Speaker Johnson?
The DNC knows this is a non-starter. They’ve known it before they proposed it. This is election year posturing to “turn out the vote” with the promises of “We know you don’t like how the supreme court has been ruling. Vote for us and we’ll fix that for you!”. (Knowing they won’t get enough for the required majorities. And if they DID, they’d mysteriously have JUST ENOUGH defections from the party to block passage.) It’s a game. Both sides play it.
C'mon, Mitch - you missed an opportunity to call it "an assault on democracy."
Unusual for Mitch to declare something from the opposing party to be “dead on arrival.”
Well then. I suppose fjb will just have to settle for curing cancer and making everything electric before he leaves office. After that he can go to disney land where they have unlimited pudding cups.
And after what Biden said about putting Trump in a bullseye and then the assassination attempt happened - I'd be looking over my shoulder if I were Johnson.
Republicans should always counter with their own proposals for reform.
Like, term limits for congress (house and senate), with 6 years max for the house and 6 years for senate, and no VP breaking of ties in the senate.
And, selection/nomination by presidents should be eliminated, and a justice should be voted on ‘by the people’ and not the president or congress; with lifetime service or with resignation.
And, only American born citizens can be eligible for congress and for the supreme court and cabinet members and for president (that last one is already there, but disregarded), and justices and presidents should have to take cognitive tests each year.
And, no consideration for supreme court reform until the people doing the proposals are no longer in office. If the reform is worthwhile, it will remain worthwhile across party lines and active for consideration after those that made the proposals are no longer in office.
Speaking of Executive Orders . . . it would be awfully interesting, I think, to have someone review all the recent executive orders, with emphasis on how often they come out and what their thrust is.And of course, does Kamela Harris pretend that she has the authority to publish such orders?
Term and age limits for Congress.
Actually, of course, it’s an assault on our republican form of government . . . which is what the Constitution tasks the federal government with guaranteeing to the states. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence. (Article IV, Section 4)
McConnell knows the biden he knew died long ago. The soulless sack that is left isn’t even human anymore.
D O A ??? Just like Joe

“Biden doesn’t know what time it is.”
Put it this way..biden may not know what is unconstitutional, but he certainly doesn’t care. Forgiving student loans, demanding stores lower their prices to suit him.
Who knows why he’s even doing this. It must be of value to his handlers. Word is he’s still cranky about getting booted out. If whatever they held over his head to cajole him out of running every dries up he’ll really come off the rails.
