I realize this is probably in the wrong place, and is quite a waste, but I am looking for a gov't website I found a while back. It deals with $$$ and statistics, if I recall correctly, and was not an office of which I had heard before. Wasn't budget or expenditures, but was kind of a "hole-in-the-wall" office with a WEALTH of knowledge - statistics, graphs, etc. Any clues? Or is this a worthless post -- "I need to know the name of a gov't office--there are only 10,000 of 'em..."

IF YOU TRAWL the posting boards at FreeRepublic.com long enough, you'll go mad. Hundreds of voices are shouting, spitting, and clamoring for attention at any given moment. The night of Wednesday September 8 was no different. Following the 8 P.M. airing of CBS's 60 Minutes hit on President Bush's record in the Texas Air National Guard, Freepers were rattling their cages and pinging around the web in anger and disconsolation. On a thread begun in response to a New York Times article about the 60 Minutes story, "tomahawk" wrote, "The MSM [mainstream media] are whores for Kerry, whores for Democrats,...

I am trying to put together a handbook of sorts, "Ammuntion: Dispelling Propaganda, Lies, and Myths," which I will put on my personal website, but am in need of some good articles/hardhitting lists that destroy the left. Something along the lines of: Gun Control Works: i.e. #6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals; 12. the 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which was created 130 years later, in 1917. Left-Lib Etiquette: 7. Never take an economics course; 12. Always say "people of color" so everyone will know you care. Pollaganda Utopia:...

WASHINGTON - A television writer and fund-raiser for John Kerry (news - web sites) is the first six-figure donor to a new group that is criticizing President Bush (news - web sites)'s National Guard service during the Vietnam War. Daniel O'Keefe, a writer/producer whose work includes such sitcoms as "The Drew Carey Show" and "Seinfeld," donated $100,000 this week to Texans for Truth, an Austin-based group that plans to run anti-Bush television ads starting Monday. O'Keefe said his donation was prompted by the ads of another group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, accusing Democratic presidential hopeful Kerry of exaggerating his...

I recall reading or hearing something about JF'nKerry trying to get out of service before he enlisted. Is this true? Any links? Further, did he also try enlisting in the National Guard before the Navy (the person from whom I heard this also said that, at the time, if you couldn't get in the NG, you tried to get in the Navy, as you would still only be in boats--accuracy?) Thanks!

"Bush Disses John Edwards In N.C." proclaims CBS. "Bush Criticizes Edwards' Political Skills" says the AP. "Bush quick to jab Edwards" hollers the Buffalo News. "Bush quick to attack Edwards" reports the Daily Review. "Campaigns get rough as Bush slams Edwards" declares the Denver Post. On what are these news sources basing their assertions? "Dick Cheney can be president," as President Bush said in a press conference yesterday. What was the Opposition's response?"We're sending Jack and Emma Claire down there to help those Republicans in West Palm Beach count those votes." ---Hahahah! Sending kids to help them count! How clever!...

Just thought that you Freepers might enjoy this--shows how irrelevant Canada is.

DALLAS (AP) — In a modern-day version of "West Side Story," rival gang members exchanged harsh words and set a time for a rumble. Nearly three dozen people, including 27 high school students, were arrested this week after a grand jury issued indictments in a March 3 street fight. What makes this case unusual, experts say, is how the clash was arranged: via a profanity-laced Internet chat room. "It's the first time that we have seen it," said Officer Joe Harn, police spokesman in the Dallas suburb of Garland. "They didn't have to come together to down each other (with...

The new Socialist government in Spain has caved in to the terrorist threats and withdrawn its troops from Iraq. So have Honduras and the Dominican Republic. They are unlikely to be the last. With the security situation expected to worsen before it improves, we have to accept that a few more countries--which do not appreciate how much the world has at stake in building a free Iraq--will also cut and run. No matter how the retreating governments try to spin it, every time a country pulls out of Iraq it is al Qaeda and other extremists who win. They draw...

Why Kerry Should Resign http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=536&ncid=536&e=11&u=/ap/20040511/ap_on_go_co/unemployment_benefits Yesterday the U.S. Senate considered a measure that would extend federal unemployment benefits for 13 weeks. Twelve Republicans joined 46 Democrats and independent Jim Jeffords in supporting it--but it failed on a 59-40 http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=108&session=2&vote=00088 vote in favor. Sixty votes were required "to overcome objections that extending the benefits violated last year's budget agreement," as the Associated Press explains. The one senator not voting: John Kerry, who was campaigning in Kentucky. Kerry apparently supported the measure; a spokesman tells the AP, "John Kerry has fought again and again to extend unemployment benefits for workers left behind...

Open Letter to President Bush Dear Mr. President~ I must first begin by thanking you for the job you are doing. You not only chose it, you worked for it. While I might not always agree with you, I feel you have continually acted in the best interests of, and on behalf of, me and all Americans. So, being as you might not hear it too often, Thank you. I prayed for you tonight. Prayed harder than I have in a long time. It was the kind of deep prayer that I felt leaving me. I was profoundly affected by...

I was on Mr. Kerry's boat in Vietnam. He doesn't deserve to be commander in chief. HOUSTON--In 1971, I debated John Kerry, then a national spokesman for the Vietnam Veterans Against the War, for 90 minutes on "The Dick Cavett Show." The key issue in that debate was Mr. Kerry's claim that American troops were committing war crimes in Vietnam "on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command." Now, as Sen. Kerry emerges as the presumptive Democratic nominee for the presidency, I've chosen to re-enter the fray. Like John Kerry, I served in...

I don't get it-- An italian POW has his throat slit by hi Iraqi captors... civilian security workers are brutally murdered, dismembered, burned, and strung up from a bridge... POW Tom Hammill is denied any medical treatment for 3 weeks, causing infection in the gunshot in his arm... and yet the USA is horrible for the sadism of a dozen sick soldiers, there are calls for investigation, international outcry, and a general condemnation of the US military... What about the Islamofascists who routinely do such things, and more?! Where are the calls for investigation and retribution?

In the midst of an international war on terrorists who have already claimed 3,000 lives on the home front, can America afford the potentially disastrous consequences of four years of on-the-job training for John Kerry? Despite repeatedly asserting throughout his presidential campaign that he brings to the race "35 years of experience in national security, foreign affairs and military affairs," Mr. Kerry has in fact compiled an abysmal record replete with poor judgments and deeply flawed policy recommendations. Mr. Kerry first emerged on the national scene in April 1971, when, testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he issued a...

Leftport, Connecticut Why I'm taking flight from the Bush-hating 'burbs. BY ALAN BROMLEY Monday, May 3, 2004 12:01 a.m. EDT These weekend invitations to Westport, Conn.--I've started calling it "Leftport"--are becoming burdensome. I find myself surrounded by people who have moved from Manhattan to homogeneous suburban enclaves encircled by white fences, white neighbors and purer-than-thou philosophies. Never mind that they moved there for better public schools and lower tax rates--and to see Paul Newman at the local grocery store. They are now of one mind: to defeat President Bush! They hate his swagger, which I find a bit annoying; they...

I have received a few emails from the editor of Jewish World Review, as I unsubscribed from his email list, and he mentioned that often Freepers post entire articles instead of excerpts, and since he makes his $$$ off SITE visits, I think we oughta honor his request (he also mentioned that Jim Robinson has mentioned it...) and just post excerpts... Just my 2 cents...
