  • Buchanan Interviews Galloway

A few minutes ago, Buchanan and Press interviewed British MP George Galloway regarding his views on Iraq. Galloway, naturally, was against any military action against Saddam Hussein. Buchanan seemed to cheer him on. Strangely, Pat Buchanan gave no indication whatsoever that George Galloway is perhaps the farthest left and most anti-American member of the British parliament (and that is quite and accomplishment). OCTOBER 18, 2002 | current issue | back issues | subscribe | Bilingual Debate Shows Pronounced Split Among Jews By DANIEL TREIMAN FORWARD STAFF Jewish umbrella groups in Massachusetts and Colorado are lining up against a pair of controversial ballot initiatives that would severely curtail bilingual education — despite indications that rank-and-file American Jews may favor efforts to end bilingual programs. Massachusetts's Question 2 and Colorado's Amendment 31 will appear on their respective states' November ballots. The two states' leading Jewish representative bodies, the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston and the JCRC of the Allied Jewish Federation...

The truth about John Nash of "A Beautiful Mind" This is reality: There is a mathematician named John Nash who got his PhD at Princeton and was a professor at MIT. He was diagnosed with schizoprenia in the 1950's and was incapacitated for many years. He was allowed by the Princeton administration to hang around the campus during the 1970's and '80's during which time he gradually recovered his sanity. He was awarded the 1994 Nobel Prize for Economics after the Nobel committee took the unusual step of sending a representative to Princeton to see if he was in good...

An ethnic nation that came into existence in the Twentieth Century as the result of a proclamation by a postwar international conference. The support of the President of the United States was crucial in the passage of the resolution that proclaimed this state. In its early years, it was governed mostly by socialists. Members of the ethnic group of this new state were given a "right of return" to move there and become citizens. People who had never lived in this state were granted citizenship based on ethnicity. Many came from the Soviet Union. Shortly after it was founded, ...

PA official: we launched crackdown under duress 2001-12-19 20:10:25 IAP News 19 December 2001 A prominent PA official and a close confidant of Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat has admitted that the latest PA campaign against Islamist-run charitable societies and educational and athletic centers was carried out "under duress." "We know these centers and offices have absolutely no connection with the resistance and the military wings of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, but we had to do something to demonstrate to the Americans that we are serious about fighting violence." The official, who demanded that his name not be mentioned, ...

New York's Undocumented Day Laborers Fight for Their Piece of the Big Apple On the Corner Text and photographs by Michael Kamber Williamsburg, Brooklyn: Polish cleaning women wait to be hired by Satmar Jews. Wordlessly, the negotiation has already begun. The Jewish woman, a member of the ultra-orthodox Satmar sect, looks tentatively at the Polish woman, approaches her uncertainly. The Polish woman ignores her, but monitors her advance out of the corner of her eye. The Polish woman has mouths to feed in her country. The Satmar woman needs her house cleaned. They come to do business on Williamsburg's ...

By MICHELE CHABINSpecial to JUF NewsGenerally, Israeli archeologists shy away from the media. Accustomed to spending months and years on end excavating dusty, sun-baked sites, they will go to almost any length to keep journalists and souvenir hunters away from an excavation in progress. Yet at this very moment, the country's archeologists are begging international journalists to report on Palestinian digging and building at the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism and the home of the Al Aksa mosque, which Muslims say is their third-holiest. The archeologists are accusing the Wakf -- the Islamic body that has sole control ...

Our whole nation demands that these cursed vipers be annihilated! Years will pass. The graves of these hated traitors will be grown over with weeds and grass, covered with the eternal contempt of the honest Soviet people." Subject: CNN and Israel For the last few years we have watched CNN's unbalanced, pro Arab coverage of the Middle-East conflict. This fact may (or may not) explain CNN's biased coverage: Saudi Prince Alaweed bin Tabel bin Abdel Aziz al Saud (the one who offered Giuliani 10 million) has 16 billion invested in American companies, including 932 million in CNN's parent - AOLTime Warner. WASHINGTON -- President George W. Bush said this week that, after Sept. 11, America faces a "different kind of enemy" -- and from the American viewpoint, this is surely right. But then he said that this was an "enemy of the 21st century," and this is where we have to be careful. For in some ways, the al'Qaeda movement of Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan can be traced more directly to the 12th century. It was then that another Islamic leader, Hassan Sabah, similarly intoxicated by radical religiosity and by the need to "purify" the world, built his castle of ...

Domino Sugar For Sale BALTIMORE, 12:22 p.m. EDT June 20, 2001 -- In a London board room, businessmen are negotiating the sale of something near and dear to every Baltimorean - the plant adorned with the giant red Domino Sugars sign that has loomed over downtown for a half century. The 120-by-70-foot sign and its 650 neon tubes are a landmark most city residents can't imagine the city without. The sign rests atop a 20-acre plant complex that employs about 500 and is the last of a dozen refineries that once processed imported sugar cane in the city. London-based Tate ...

MR. GORE, END IT NOW November 27, 2000 There is a line, not all that fine, between perseverance and stubbornness. Al Gore is about to trip over that line and collapse with a thud. His determination to keep fighting, even after Sunday night's formal declaration that George W. Bush won the presidential race in Florida, presents the increasingly unappealing portrait of a man who wants to be a winner at any cost. Florida has certified that Bush carried the state. Election officials followed the procedures and timetable dictated by the Florida Supreme Court. Florida has delivered a final count ...

    • Sen. John Warner, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, expressed "distress" Friday over reports that absentee ballots used by members of the military might not be counted because they weren't postmarked because of clerical errors. In a letter to Defense Secretary William Cohen, Warner, R-Virginia, wrote: "My Senate office, and those of other Senators, are receiving calls and e-mails from constituents alleging that local elections officials are being asked not to count absentee ballots from overseas military personnel and their families which do not bear postmarks, although those ballots were received in the voter's state by the deadline ...
