[snip] Just ask, ahem, President Obama. Seems the big guy lost a magnetic presidential seal that was affixed to the side of his limousine as he wrapped up a fundraising visit to Philly on Thursday. The seal flew off the side of the limo and whipped by motorists in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 76, where it was presumed lost . . . until shortly before noon yesterday. That's when a veteran Philadelphia police officer found the seal on the side of the highway, near the Montgomery Avenue exit, while he was assisting the driver of a disabled vehicle, said...

LONDON (Reuters) – The Germans have been voted the world's "least funny nationality" in a global poll, which names Americans the funniest overall and the Spanish the most amusing Europeans, ahead of the Italians and French. The social network and dating website Badoo.com asked 30,000 people across 15 countries to name both the "funniest," or best at making people laugh," and "the least funny" nationality. Americans took the funniest prize, followed by the Spanish in second and Italians in third. The voting for "least funny" nationality confirmed the view of American novelist Mark Twain that "a German joke is no...

Republican Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin took a swipe at 2012 presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, Monday, over comments the former Speaker of the House made on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” about Ryan’s budget plan. “With allies like that, who needs the left?” said Ryan on a radio show Monday morning.

Snowman dies What's troubling is this: It looked as though he went out of his lane, and into the oncoming lane (there was no oncoming traffic) to plow it down. Perhaps that was the problem? I personally really don't see why they should have asked him to resign. Posted by: Sail'nTodd | December 15, 2010 at 01:54 PM hsgbdmama Aren't there laws about placing objects in the street which obstruct traffic? Here are some photos of our yard after last night's storm. We got about a foot or so of snow. Perhaps 15 when it's all done. The winds up have gusts to and sometimes exceeding 50 miles an hour today. Post your photos and stories. Luckily no trees fell on wires or our house! And we didn't lose power. Our driveway. Looking at the road from our driveway. Another shot of our driveway. Nancy Pelosi is getting the first test of her might under the new Democratic reality as she scrambles to extinguish a rebellion against her power to appoint lieutenants to top party posts. Realizing they don’t have the votes to knock the defeated speaker from the top perch in party leadership, moderate Blue Dog Democrats have set their sights a little lower, targeting liberal Pelosi enforcers George Miller (D-Calif.), Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) and Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.), all of whom hold influential jobs because Pelosi has installed them. Pelosi has already faced down challenges to her authority from a diverse set of...

With President Obama out of the country tweaking things in Asia, carefully not bowing this time, and packing away some pista murg and balak papri chat, his trusty sidekick Joe Biden is left to find things to do back home. There's a big Diwali party tonight at the White House. The vice president will be there. But first, JB has a breakfast meeting with Sen. Chuck Hagel and then another one of those Middle Class Task Force events to try to find some of those thousands of missing green energy jobs that have been promised so often. Joe's had some...

Since her arrival in India on Saturday, US First Lady Michelle Obama’s 1960s look has become the talk of the town. On Sunday morning, Michelle visited a school in Mumbai with husband, President Barack Obama, wearing an outfit reminiscent of 1960s style icon, former first lady, Jackie Kennedy. On her arrival in India, she wore a grey silk tunic, which was akin to the 1960s styles of designer labels Chanel, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. “She has been dressing right on trend with these 60s- inspired looks. Like the floral printed skirt she wore as she played hopscotch. The thin...

Besides the high-level security apparatus in place for US President Barack Obama's visit here tomorrow, dog and monkey catchers are also being roped in to avert any 'animal invasion' on his route. Security officials have sought the help of trained animal handlers from civic agencies so that no untoward situation is created during Obama's tour to the national capital. Special focus is being given to the Central Ridge forests opposite ITC Maurya Sheraton, which will host the American president during his stay here, and Rajghat, where Obama will visit to pay respects at the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Monkeys are...

Strong winds on Sunday played a bit of a spoilsport for the red carpet send off to the Obamas for Delhi as the gusts blew away the rug twice despite the best efforts of officials who finally decided to get rid of it to avoid an embarrassment. Even as authorities in Mumbai were preparing to bid adieu to President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, strong winds kept blowing away the red carpet laid out at the airport for them and the problem was compounded by the sweep of the rotors of the two US helicopters. Twice the authorities rolled...

Before what he calls "the jaw-dropping" events of the past 19 months -- TARP, the stimulus, Government Motors, the mistreatment of Chrysler's creditors, Obamacare, etc. -- the idea of running for office never crossed Ron Johnson's mind. He was, however, dry tinder -- he calls Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" his "foundational book" -- and now is ablaze, in an understated, Upper Midwestern way. This 55-year-old manufacturer of plastic products from Oshkosh, Wis., is what the Tea Party looks like. He is trim, gray-haired and suddenly gray-suited. For years he has worn jeans and running shoes to his office, but now,...

MILWAUKEE - Oshkosh-based businessman Ron Johnson is announcing his bid for U.S. Senate in Milwaukee. "After three terms, after 18 years, it's time for (incumbent Democrat) Russ Feingold to retire," Johnson said on 620WTMJ's "Midday with Charlie Sykes." The Republican candidate gained a lot of good will and attention from party members while speaking at a series of recent Tea Party rallies. Johnson was also set to make stops in Green Bay and Wausau on Monday.

SHEEP are not exactly born swimmers — but un-baa-lievable Mildred is wowing fans as a talented SURFER. More than 50,000 web surfers have flocked to get a glimpse of the six-year-old. In the footage of her unprecedented surf at St. Agnes in Cornwall the anything but sheepish ewe is seen being helped on to her board by three surfers in wetsuits before being towed out to sea. As the waves carry her back to shore she uses her skill and clever footwork to keep the board steady and straight — before leaping on to the sand. But for her legions...

This was posted in the newsletter. (My son-in-law, check my home page for photos) BY: ANDRAE DOBBS, HQs PLT Being in Gorbuz, Afghanistan is easier for me than garrison. I`ve always worked better in a combat zone. It is nice to be away from a large FOB, all the people, and the higher ranks. I like the simple living that comes with deployments and being away from the everyday busy life. It’s hard to be away from family, but it’s a time to gather thoughts and priorities, realizing what life is all about and that there is so much to...
