END OF THE SPEAR By Cal ThomasJanuary 18,2006 Tribune Media Services Fifty years ago this month, five young missionaries were killed by an Ecuadorian tribe known to the world as the Auca Indians. Auca means savage. The tribe called itself, then and now, the Waodani. The real story isn't only the death of those five young men. It is also the incredible reconciliation that took place not long after, as relatives of the dead men returned to offer love and peace to the very people who had murdered their loved ones. That incident and that reconciliation have been told in...

    1. Didn't our tax money pay for military bases? 2. Weren't numerous bases closed recently? 3. Bases have living quarters, mess halls, medical facilities, stores etc...right? 4. Why can't these places be used instead of the Astrodome/Superdome/Convention Center??? If taxpayer money paid for the base, and the base is empty, and the taxpayers are now destitute due to a natural disaster...why is this not a viable option??? Sounds like an INSTANT CITY to me! These people need a place to live, dignity, a job...why could they not be given jobs to do on the base? Jobs like maintenance, cooking, groundskeeping...surely...

FRiends, I just received this in my e-mail. A close friend of mine is in Sunday School class with the son of U.S. Marine James Graham, who was recently killed in Iraq. (See e-mail below). The family will have enough to be bothered by and grieve over without the protesters. This e-mail was sent out to the church, to help support the family. If you want to participate, please go, and (as he states) do not engage the protesters. Arrow Heights Baptist is located on Elm (161st) Just North of 101st in Broken Arrow. Here is the e-mail as I received...

Documenting forgiveness Steve Saint stands alongside Mincaye, one of the Waodani Indians featured in a new documentary on the murder of Saint’s father, missionary Nate Saint, and four other missionaries in 1956 in Ecuador. Photo courtesy of Every Tribe Entertainment DALLAS (BP)--The Waodani Indians of Ecuador were killing six of every 10 of their tribesmen when American missionaries entered their isolated community in January 1956. Anthropologists say the tribe, identified then as the Aucas, had one of the most violent cultures ever documented and was headed toward extinction. Missionary pilot Nate Saint had located the tribe in circling the Amazon...

Katie Holmes won't portray Andy Warhol protege in a new movie because Tom Cruise believes it would be bad for her image. "Tom doesn't believe in (the drugs the movie character takes) because of his belief in Scientology." Holmes' rep said: "Katie is not attached to that project."

Hillary Postage Stamp(joke)The U.S. Postal Service created a stamp with a picture of Senator Hillary Clinton to honor her achievements as the First Lady of our nation. In daily use it was shown that the stamp was not sticking to envelopes. This enraged Senator Clinton, who demanded a full investigation. After a month of testing, a special presidential commission made the following findings: *The stamp was in perfect order. *There was nothing wrong with the applied adhesive. *People were spitting on the wrong side.
  • BuyBlue.org Urges Support of Liberal Companies at Christmas--FREEPING NEEDED

Want to know which companies support your political agenda? BuyBlue.org wants "blue" voters to support those companies which they have dubbed "blue", according to various criteria, including which candidates/agendas they support. They list red and blue companies of all sorts, including retail shopping, clothing, "spirits", restaurants, hotels, airlines, oil and gas, grocery, holiday-related", entertainment and technology.I want to thank them for spelling out in such detail which companies I, as a conservative, should not support. We can use their lists to support the "red" companies this Christmas season. Visit the site, and see their lists...I doubt I should actually post...

My son was recently given an assignment to read a biography, and give a report (in numerous formats) to his class and to the parents of his classmates. I am so proud to say that, when given a choice of any person alive or dead, my son chose Ronald Reagan! (I'm doing something right!) My question is this: Does anyone know of a great biography (unbiased) written for elementary school students? I have searched online, but am unfamiliar with the books/authors I have found. I don't know if they are written by real historians or by authors who like to...

Is God a Republican?by Ed Gungor I kind of think God is a Republican-though I'm not certain that is fair. I'm a Republican. I like the idea of smaller government, less taxes, and I think the abortion and the gay rights agendas have gained too much ground. However, I am suspect that my political preferences may have been fashioned more by my upper-middle class upbringing than by true biblical faith. This became quite clear to me when I was preaching in a large Charismatic church in St. Louis, Missouri about 12 years ago-right after President Clinton and the Democrats won...

I have now read about four attacks on GOP headquarters in Washington DC, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Florida. The one that most concerns me is the DC burglary during which they stole 3 computers of key campaign staff. What I haven't heard is WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT???The DC robbery is definitely WATERGATE material, so why is nothing being reported? Is an investigation under way? Has anyone heard anything more about this?

I read another thread that predicted the media would refrain from showing footage of the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon, etc, from 9-11, so as not to muster any support for Bush. Whether it gives Bush a bounce or not is not the issue. (Although I wouldn't be disappointed.) The issue is remembering those who were lost, and the families who still miss them... the heroes who went into the towers to rescue others, and never made it out...the heroes in Pennsylvania and the Pentagon. Americans said we would "NEVER FORGET". We even put it on posters and banners and...

Freepers, I just received this from a friend of mine, and I think it is SO important to be aware of this sort of thing. • Why Do the Majority of Union Workers Vote Democrat?(vanity)

This is an actual question--this subject baffles me. My grandfather was a union worker his entire life. He was also poor his entire life. The union never benefitted him (according to him), but ALWAYS managed to take his due money. (He desperately needed that for his family.) Not only that, but he never got to decide what his hard-earned money would be supporting.I am truely confused by this phenomenon. People continue to believe a union will protect them...does it really? Is it a fallacy that the majority of union workers are democrat supporters, or is that actually true?

A veterans group seeking to deeply discredit Democrat John Kerry's military service will charge in the new bombshell book UNFIT FOR COMMAND: Two of John Kerry's three Purple Heart decorations resulted from self-inflicted wounds, not suffered under enemy fire. All three of Kerry's Purple Hearts were for minor injuries, not requiring a single hour of hospitalization. A "fanny wound" was the highlight of Kerry's much touted "no man left behind" Bronze Star. Kerry turned the tragic death of a father and small child in a Vietnamese fishing boat into an act of "heroism" by filing a false report on the...

I visited my local Barnes and Noble this morning, from which I have been largely absent for over a month. As I entered the store, I was greeted (most unpleasantly, I might add) by an enormous SHRINE TO BILL CLINTON! The front side of the table was filled, floor to ceiling, with My Life, featuring Slick Willie's ugly mug. As I glanced around the table at the other books, I found that there were ZERO (count them!) books featured on the front table that one would consider "conservative."I decided to do a little research. I asked the clerk who was...
