1. Didn't our tax money pay for military bases? 2. Weren't numerous bases closed recently? 3. Bases have living quarters, mess halls, medical facilities, stores etc...right? 4. Why can't these places be used instead of the Astrodome/Superdome/Convention Center??? If taxpayer money paid for the base, and the base is empty, and the taxpayers are now destitute due to a natural disaster...why is this not a viable option??? Sounds like an INSTANT CITY to me! These people need a place to live, dignity, a job...why could they not be given jobs to do on the base? Jobs like maintenance, cooking, groundskeeping...surely...

My son was recently given an assignment to read a biography, and give a report (in numerous formats) to his class and to the parents of his classmates. I am so proud to say that, when given a choice of any person alive or dead, my son chose Ronald Reagan! (I'm doing something right!) I have now read about four attacks on GOP headquarters in Washington DC, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Florida. The one that most concerns me is the DC burglary during which they stole 3 computers of key campaign staff. What I haven't heard is WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT???The DC robbery is definitely WATERGATE material, so why is nothing being reported? Is an investigation under way? I read another thread that predicted the media would refrain from showing footage of the World Trade Centers, the Pentagon, etc, from 9-11, so as not to muster any support for Bush. This is an actual question--this subject baffles me. My grandfather was a union worker his entire life. He was also poor his entire life. The union never benefitted him (according to him), but ALWAYS managed to take his due money. (He desperately needed that for his family.) Not only that, but he never got to decide what his hard-earned money would be supporting.I am truely confused by this phenomenon. People continue to believe a union will protect them...does it really? Is it a fallacy that the majority of union workers are democrat supporters, or is that actually true?
