In case you haven't seen this book by John Bascom (published Jan, 2011) I would highly recommend it to all Freepers, but I warn you that it is the most evil book ever written. It is more scary than Stephen King's "IT" which, to this day, still causes goosebumples when I think of the clown-monster.Bascom weaves a nasty tale, written as the autobiography of his central character. The plot is basically that through accidental means a terrible virus is unleashed on mankind. The fall out from that activity caused by Mr. Caine is described in horrid detail with many twists and turns...

Illinois Senate President John Cullerton today suggested the state should start taxing the retirement income of senior citizens who are able to afford it. The state does not currently tax pensions or retirement funds such as 401(k) plans, but Cullerton told a City Club of Chicago luncheon that should take place as part of an overall look at what he said was Illinois' "outdated" tax system. "It would just be a matter of fairness," said Cullerton, a Chicago Democrat.

Sad to say that any other pistols, long guns, slingshots and / or any other 2nd Amendment Tools that may have been lost in a tragic boating accident...there is a $500 gift cert that has been acquired and needs to be disposed of. Top choices available are to purchase / trade for the gift cert are: Ruger 10/22, Henry 16+1 with Octagonal barrel or Remington 597 in .22LR with a nice little 4 x 32 scope. Will use for range & target and upcoming Appleseed. It would be nice to still have the .22Mag Marlin to keep it company... Thoughts,...

WASHINGTON – Raising the direst alarm yet, the Obama administration warned fellow Democrats on Wednesday that if they defeat the big tax-cut compromise detested by many liberals, they could jolt the nation back into recession. President Barack Obama appealed anew for Congress to "get this done" and insisted that more congressional Democrats would climb aboard as they studied details of the $900 billion year-end measure. Several did announce support on Wednesday, but at least one said there still was "a mood to resist."

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Anger on Sunday over a Somali-born teen's failed plan to blow up a van full of explosives during Portland's Christmas tree lighting ceremony erupted in arson on Sunday when a fire damaged an Islamic center frequented by the suspect, authorities said. Police don't know who started the blaze or exactly why, but they believe the Islamic center in Corvallis was targeted because terror suspect Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, occasionally worshipped there.

My GMC 2002 Envoy has tripped over 113,000 miles. While still in great condition and it is not costing me anything other than gas and oil for now, I am quite tempted to move it out of the garage and get a 2010 Toyota Highlander, Limited Trim package, NON-hybrid. With the economy on the edge, I have a pre-approved loan through my State Farm group at 3.49% @36 mos. but ONLY until 10/31/10. Toyota will match this rate plus $750 cash back. They also have 2 years of free maintenance for routine things. So, who has experience with the Highlander...

CLEVELAND – President Barack Obama strongly defended his opposition to extending Bush-era tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans on Wednesday and delivered a searing attack on Republicans and their House leader for advocating "the same philosophy that led to this mess in the first place." Obama said the struggling U.S. economy can't afford to spend $700 billion to keep lower tax rates in place for the nation's highest earners despite a call by House Minority Leader John Boehner and other GOP leaders to do just that.

Spring has sprung in Alaska, and with this beautiful season comes the news today that the Palins have a new neighbor! Welcome, Joe McGinniss! Yes, that Joe McGinniss. Here he is – about 15 feet away on the neighbor’s rented deck overlooking my children’s play area and my kitchen window. Maybe we’ll welcome him with a homemade blueberry pie tomorrow so he’ll know how friendly Alaskans are. We found out the good news today. Upon my family’s return this morning from endorsement rallies and speeches in the Lower 48 states, I finally got the chance to tackle my garden and...

Former US Ambassador to the UN, John Bolton, clearly stated that he believes Iran will complete the construction of nuclear weapons while the Obama Administration looks the other way. During his interview on Fox News "Fox and Friends", Bolton said that he thinks the Obama Admin has a tolerance and contain policy that Iran is using to their advantage. A nukular Iran, he said, would be contained and tolerated by other countries in the region and that the sanctions are toothless. He also said that while the Dept of Defense likely has several contingency plans in place to handle Iran,...
