House Committee on Immigration, Citizenship and Border Security...

House members still speaking. Colbert sitting there looking all interested.

Conyers speaking now, proposing to Rep King that they form another Committee to recruit hundreds of thousands of people to solve this (immigration) problem...

Where is the outrage?

This is absolutely an abomination and makes a travesty of the whole Congressional testimony system.

Was this Al Franken’s idea?

Absolutely. How much clearer can it be that we need to throw these bums out. Spending their time on a hearing featuring a comedian testifying in character - good grief. What, was Pee Wee Herman unavailable?

Conyers now shilling for Colbert’s “MARCH” on the 30th of October...

Evidently Colbert has already given opening statement? Waiting for comedian to respond to a request to Conyers’ request that Colbert LEAVE the room and submit his statement in writing, but not speak??

Listen, the house is nothing but a band of court jesters these days...may as well have a profession entertainer or two spin some yarns too.

This is a joke. Just like the Democrats. They treat the whole country like a playpen.

The Republicans should use film of this dog and pony show in campaign commercials. The ads write themselves.

Who else can they have testify?

Clint Eastwood: violence on the western frontier.
Alan Alda: battlefield medicine.
Al Franken: comedy.
David Prowse (with James Earl Jones under the table to do the speaking): difficulties of the handicapped in management positions.

Can we then assume it will be easier to charge Colbert with purjury? Paging Patrick Fitzgerald, media whore opportunity in aisle 2.

It is bad enough the all of a sudden a comedian is an expert.

What I really want to know is WHO called him to testify.

You don’t just walk in the Capitol building and offer to testify in front of Congress.

Hope he is under oath

It is the only way they can get people to watch the hearing. The Dems are trying to energize their base, particularly Hispanics, before the midterms. This is all political theater.

It just occurred to me - since they are shilling for the Oct 30 “event” -

This is to somehow lend him credibility - and to give more PR for the Oct 30th event.

“This topic - which I know something about, having testified in Congress ...”

On Drudge now:

REP. CONYERS TO FUNNYMAN: 'I'm asking you to leave the committee room completely, and submit your statement'... MORE... Rep. Lofgren steps in: 'Many are eager to hear his comments' ... Colbert mugs: 'I'm here at the invitation of the chairwoman, and if she would like me to remove myself from the hearing room I am happy to do so. I'm only here at her invitation'...

An apple farm owner speaking about how if illegal immigrants don’t show up on time to pick, they go broke. China will supply apples to us instead.

He pays $93 per day to apple pickers. Says there are labor shortages...supports AgJob legislation.
