  • The Flag Burning Amendment passed by the House

The continually put forward Amendment to the Constitution, to outlaw the burning of the American Flag, should not be passed; even though I feel loathed and offended by the burning of the American Flag, because it symbolizes to me, the individual Freedom, Rights and Liberty that our forefathers fought and gave their lives for, it also represents to me the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, which to me are sacred documents. Many brave people have fought and died for our individual Rights, Liberty and Freedom, and what this Country represents under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, with the American Flag as their symbol of pride in this Country. But I hope they gave their lives for what the American Flag represents to them, and not just for the symbol itself. This is the only Country on Earth, where we have the freedom and the Right to burn the symbol, the flag. Where people are not put in jail or killed for expressing their political dissent.

I personally think that anyone who would burn our flag, should be given a one-way ticket, to any other Country on Earth. But we should not have political prisoners in this Country. I believe in freedom and liberty, more than the symbol that represents it. People should have the Right to express their political dissent; any way they so choose, so long as they do not hurt or violate anyone else's person, property, privacy or freedom. For me to set one symbol above all other symbols, by making it the only symbol that you can put people in jail for desiccating it, is tantamount to idolatry. You have to be willing to pay the price for freedom and liberty, and sometimes the price seems great, but the blessings of liberty are greater, to be free, and stay free, true freedom is worth any cost.

The American flag has been an honored symbol; the flag that we draped over the bodies and caskets of our honored dead. The American flag has been consecrated with their blood, in their fight for Family, Country, Liberty and Freedom. But burning the American flag can take nothing away from their Great Sacrifice; it is only the symbol of that Sacrifice, and not the Sacrifice itself. No one or nothing can ever take away from or Diminish, the Lives that have been given, and the Sacrifices that have been made, for Family, for Country, for Liberty and for Freedom.

But we should give Honor to our symbol of Liberty, long May She Wave, ore the Land of the Free, and the Home of the Brave. The Stars and Stripes of Freedom; the Flag of the United States of America, symbol of the Freest Nation on Earth, and the Sacrifices that have been made, and the Lives that have been given for that Liberty and Freedom. Do not let their Sacrifices be empty, or in vain. Let Freedom Ring from Sea to shining Sea, for now and forevermore.

Religious Liberty Protection Act which was pass by the House on July 15/1999 will someday hpoefully be taken up by Senate Republicans. When they choose to act the Senate bill # will be S2081 says my representative Jay Inslee of Washington State. We need to get the Senate Republicans move on a bill that would have the potential to exspand liberty in government schools and buildings.

Why do we not educate our children in all the philosophies instead of indoctrinating them to one? We should have the right of conscience; to say what we choose to say, or write what we choose to write, or read what we choose to read, or pray what we choose to pray, any place we choose to do it, even in government run schools. What has happened to freedom and liberty in our classrooms and Country?

The socialist left has diminished liberty by banning and trying to ban what some might find offensive, and denying people freedom of speech and freedom of press, to enforce their political correctness, when the definition of Right should protect and/or expand liberty and freedom not diminish it. The socialist left’s tolerance is a lie, especially with their political correctness, and their intolerance of anything religious, in our government run schools and classrooms. They would ban what minority group might find offensive and then call that being sensitive, when it is really just an intolerant way to ban what they do not like, and do not want to here. This is all about power, control and authority over our children, so they can indoctrinate them, not educates them, into only their way of thinking on ethics and political philosophy. The socialist left with the help of ACLU want to teach only secular humanism, moral relativism, situational ethics and other socialist values in our schools, classrooms and Universities. They no longer teach the philosophy and values of individualism, individual liberty, and individual and equal Rights, and individual and equal Laws, of the 18th-Century Age of Enlightenment and the Judeo-Christian values that this country was founded upon.

To teach only one philosophy and set of values is to indoctrinate into ignorance and intolerance. Anyone who wants to ban anything, including religious philosophies and God because they find it offensive, is practicing complete and total intolerance. We have to teach all philosophies, and values, whether it’s secular or religious, to educate and not indoctrinate. We have to teach all religious philosophies, not just one or none, to educate and not indoctrinate.

The socialist left is taking any mention God and religion out of history, but to teach history without mention the effects of God or religion on our history is to teach lies, and falsehoods, not true history. Also the great literature and inspirational music of the world are greatly diminished by the intolerance of banning literature and music that mentions God, or have references of a religious nature, in our schools and libraries. Even if you believe in the separation of church and state, which is not in the Constitution, it was never meant to apply to schools and classrooms because they are not part of the legislative, executive or judicial branches of government to which the separation of church and state would apply.

We must teach all the secular and religious philosophies of our time and histories’, to educate and not indoctrinate our children so that they can freely choose what path they should follow. When our educational system keeps us ignorant of our choices, because they do not, or will not teach them, then we have no choice, and we are being indoctrinated and tyrannized. The course of true freedom is to teach all philosophies and religions, to give people freedom of choice, and only freedom can keep us from indoctrination of one side of the political spectrum or the other, and give us the freedom to choose our own way.

We must preserve the right of conscience for every individual to be able to speak his or her mind, whether it is about God and religion or atheism, even in government run schools and buildings. What is freedom of speech and religion if it does not apply to everyone and everywhere, even in government run schools, classrooms and buildings? The definition of a Human Right should be to protect and/or expand the liberty, not to diminish it. We should be able to express our opinions and our beliefs wherever and whenever we so choose, to let freedom ring.
