On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Vice President JD Vance will attend a 250th anniversary celebration for the United States Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, California.
The celebration, which will feature amphibious assault demonstrations, will also be attended by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Secretary of the Navy John Phelan, and General Eric M. Smith, Commandant of the Marine Corps.

Vance, Hegseth to join Marines 250th birthday celebration at Camp Pendleton
I Marine Expeditionary Force will host a live-fire Amphibious Capabilities Demonstration at Red Beach, Camp Pendleton, followed by a community Beach Bash at Del Mar Beach on Saturday.
Following the demonstration, Marines, Sailors and families will gather at Del Mar Beach for the Beach Bash, a celebration that “recognizes the people who form the foundation of the Marine Corps’ strength — our families and the community — as we share in the celebration of 250 years of service.” The event will include food vendors, music, static displays and family activities.
The White House Production Office will be capturing the demonstration for broadcast on Nov. 9.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The Marine Expeditionary Force will host a live-fire Amphibious Capabilities Demonstration at Camp Pendleton's Red Beach on Saturday to mark the Marine Corps' 250th birthday and America's Semiquincentennial, but Gov. Newsom said the event could lead to the closure of parts of Interstate 5 in the area.
Plans for the live-fire demonstration prompted criticism Wednesday from Gov. Newsom, who called the event "an absurd show of force, and totally uncalled for during a government shutdown when members of the military cannot even get a paycheck."
Newsom floated the possibility of shutting down I-5 near Camp Pendleton due to safety concerns about ordnance being fired over the roadway, but the roadway is now expected to remain open following a risk assessment.
Newsom, however, continued his criticism of the event, writing on Twitter, "Donald Trump and JD Vance can find money to launch missiles over the I-5 during a government shutdown, but not a dime for Americans' health care."

The Marine Corps birthday is November 11th, not October 18th. Any Marine would know this.

Except for the major leftist controlled cities, the NKVD protest are actually very small in numbers...
A bunch of people had speculated that they were timing the events, especially in the smaller towns and counties, so that a core group of protesters (likely paid organizers), could go from place to place, drop off signs and stuff, organize the local people and protest for an hour or 2 for the media, then go to the next location.
Someone actually followed a group the last protest, that held a local protest, then packed up and went to the county over and held another protest, so there is some merit to this speculation.
November 11th is Veterans Day.
The Marine Corps celebrates its birthday on November 10th.
And I got complaints about the date in the last thread I did, too....

RAV/Ben Berquam says that newsom has ordered I-5, the major 5 lane interstate each way between L.A. and San Diego, to be closed due to the live fire exercises.
newsome is only doing this, so he can blame Trump and the Marines for causing problems and disrupting traffic with this demonstration
I guess newsom would be happy with closing Camp Pendleton down and selling it to his developer friends for low income housing, similar to the push for the palisades fire victims

Wish I was there!! We used to make many trips from OC through there down to see San Diego family...I know it’s not the same state anymore but still wish I was there!!!! When we moved out of the state in 2006, we drove to SD to say goodbye to family and I made (asked?) my husband to pull over at every viewing spot along the coast so I could take pictures of the last time I’d see the Pacific Ocean...

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A section of Interstate 5 will be temporarily closed Saturday afternoon due to a controversial live-fire military demonstration at Camp Pendleton, prompting some concerns from state officials over public safety.
Governor Gavin Newsom issued a sharp statement Saturday morning, blasting the federal government’s decision to move forward with the event, which involves live artillery fire in close proximity to the heavily trafficked I-5 freeway.
Early Saturday morning, the federal government confirmed that live fire activity is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the governor.
