Hi All, I just received an e-mail from "saveliberty" advising me she has been hospitalized. The cause as she wrote was: "I have a significant, but benign tumor near my ear that is pushing against a nerve (which hemorrhaged). It sounds bad but I have excellent care." It certainly does sound serious to me, even though saveliberty said she was being well cared for. She did want me to let her FRiends here know of her condition. When I get further info, I will post it. In the mean time, if you could add saveliberty to your prayers, I know...

Hollywoodland: Inside the big picture show. Tony Snow Plays the Flute Will that be enough to win a battle of the bands at the National Press Club? By Kim Masters Updated Friday, May 11, 2007, at 12:06 PM ET Friday, May 11, 2007 Tony Snow Rocking the Boat: A couple of weeks ago, the New York Times said it would pull out of events such as the White House Correspondents' Dinner and the Gridiron Club comedy night to avoid the appearance that the press is the administration's drooling lap dog. Many in the press said that the Times policy was...

A Conversation with Tony Snow - Part 2 As in Part 1, this is not a sit down conversation with Tony Snow. This is one FReeper's impression of Tony during a visit to our area. This was his second visit in as many months. For those of you who did not read Part 1, the moderators will be suspending your accounts shortly. [kidding] Part 1 addressed Tony Snow's speech at the Republicans' "Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner" in Charlotte, NC at the end of February. It was written from my personal perspective as a fan and a member of the audience. We...

A Conversation with Tony Snow Let me state up front, this is not about Tony Snow and me having a conversation over an adult beverage. This is about the events surrounding Tony Snow's visit to Charlotte, NC to give the keynote speech at the Republicans' Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner. As a registered Independent, I don't run in Republican circles. And because our local paper leans left, they provide scant notice of Republican events. Thankfully, in a footnote to another line of discussion, Tony e-mailed me about his scheduled speech. And none too soon. My wife and I got virtually the last...

Some Premises prior to discussion: One can disagree with the President without disliking him. One can disagree with the immigration policy without being a racist. One can disagree with people and policy for many reasons: principles, experience, logic and, yes, even emotion. It is not useful to call someone hateful because they disagree with you. My Views on Immigration Legislation are: First, the security of the border must be achieved or significantly underway before any treatment of illegals is considered. A commitment to security must be stated and seen. There is no single way to secure the border. Many different...
