Hi everyone. It may be already a fait accompli.. My brother in law, a former Buffalo Cop suffered a stroke last week and is going to be taken off his respirator this afternoon. He is a good guy who fought the good fight. He is a family man, and he could be funny as hell whenever there was a family get together. He is 64, and he is a good friend. If you have a second, perhaps you can remember him in your prayers.

"Now it's gone, and the only thing we have left is Family Dollar — and hopefully they won't close." With the pharmacy closing, Winkler will no longer be able to walk over to get his...

(CNN)Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took a knee during a Black Lives Matter demonstration in Ottawa on Friday. Trudeau's act of solidarity comes after he declined to comment earlier in the day about whether he would be attending the protest. Still, he arrived at Parliament Hill -- home to Canada's Parliament -- wearing a black cloth mask Friday afternoon and surrounded by security guards, according to CNN affiliate CTVnews. Trudeau did not speak at the event, though he clapped and nodded along with some of the other speakers, including a moment when a speaker asserted there is no middle ground...

For the second year running the pandemic has halted Shakespeare’s Birthday Parade – although see below for details of the virtual one. While we are missing the fun, Sylvia Morris looks back on the history of the parade which has been an annual feature of the town since 1826. SHAKESPEARE’S Birthday has been celebrated in Stratford-upon-Avon for very nearly two centuries. Over this period there have been many changes, but the floral procession from the centre of the town to Holy Trinity Church remains their central feature. It is headed by students from King Edward VI School because the school...

The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit 30,002 eight months after tanking to around 20,000 as the pandemic hit, sending the global economy into a deep recession. The index hit the then-record-high level of 29,551 on Feb. 12, after having fallen below 20,000 on March 23, when stocks around the world hit bottom during the 2020 bear market. Sixty years old. Proud of this country all my life. Boy Scout. Fly the flag. It is getting wearisome. They are wearing me down. That is probably the idea. We have to fight for every inch. They are trying to make me hate this country. Then I will no longer care.

I tried. I love sports. I love football. I figured there would be virtue signalling. The slogans. The George Floyd tee shirts on the anthem singers. The commercials. On and on. Finally, I thought they were going to play a game and then Chris Collingworth started to get on his soapbox.... That was it. Enough already. I turned it off. I don't care anymore...

We get prayer threads on this site from time to time, and the people here are so gracious about it. I now am asking for prayers for my daughter. Now, she isn't sick or in danger, but I swear she could use some divine intervention. Her problem? She made the audacious decision to get married in the year 2020. Here's the rundown: The Catholic Church has limited the number of people who can be at the ceremony to 50. That is less than half the number of people who would want to come. The place where her reception was scheduled...burned...
