Within the next two or three years, the Supreme Court will almost certainly climax a series of state court rulings by creating a national constitutional right to homosexual marriage. The Court's ongoing campaign to normalize homosexuality-creating for homosexuals constitutional rights to special voting status and to engage in sodomy-leaves little doubt that the Court has set its course for a right to marry. This is but one of a series of cultural debacles forced upon us by judges following no law but their own predilections. This one, however, will be nuclear. As an example of judicial incontinence, it will rival...

Twice this year, the House has passed bills to curb judicial activism by limiting federal court jurisdiction. The passage of the Pledge Protection Act of 2004 (H.R. 2028) by the U.S. House of Representatives on September 21 by a vote of 247-173 has highlighted some very encouraging signs in Congress. And I do not simply mean that the Pledge of Allegiance would be protected, though that is a good thing as well.H.R. 2028 states: "No court created by Act of Congress shall have jurisdiction, and the Supreme Court shall have no appellate jurisdiction, to hear or decide" cases pertaining to the...

A Republican congressman has joined with African-American clergy and other members of Congress to demand that the House and Senate restore free speech to houses of worship. North Carolina Rep. Walter B. Jones joined with Reps. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Robin Hayes (R-N.C.) Thursday to drum up support for Jones' bill, the Houses of Worship Freedom of Speech Restoration Act (HR 235). "There is a muzzle upon the clergy. As ministers, we are obligated to speak about the moral and political issues of the day, and taking away that right is harassment. It is wrong, and it is extortion," said...

House Republicans have infuriated homosexual advocacy groups -- as well as Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) -- by killing a measure that would have expanded "hate crimes" law to include crimes against homosexuals. The measure, which the Senate attached to a defense authorization bill earlier this year, died Thursday in a House-Senate conference committee. Sens. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.). Gordon Smith (R-Ore.), and Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) sponsored the measure. Current federal hate-crime law covers violent crimes motivated by a person's race, religion or national origin. The measure killed Thursday would have expanded existing law to include violent crimes motivated by a person's...

"An Iraqi man with suspected links to terrorism had a computer disk containing crisis planning information for San Diego and other school districts when he was arrested by U.S. authorities in Iraq, 10News reported. WASHINGTON - For Tom Coburn, it was an intersection of his faith and his science and his desire to apply both to public policy. In 1999, Coburn, a physician and then an Oklahoma U.S. representative, authored a resolution in Congress stating that brain wave activity is present in a fetus 41 days after conception and a heartbeat is detectable after 24 days. "The Supreme Court ruled they didn't know where life begins," Coburn said in an interview recently, referring to the landmark 1973 Roe vs. Wade case about abortion. "We can show that scientifically. And as science improves, we're going...
