Of the 18 people whom state and local public health experts were able to interview, 16 reported eating meats sliced at a deli in the month before they got sick. There are no reports of people getting sick after eating packaged deli meat. It’s not exactly clear what meat is to blame for the listeria in this outbreak, the CDC says. The CDC and the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service are investigating, but no recalls have been issued. Most people who were sick reported eating turkey or liverwurst, and some reported eating ham. The meat came...

Sky News host Liz Storer says “Trump derangement syndrome” has picked up again after the former president’s “great week” surrounding the debate. “Donald Trump’s great week has resulted in some serious Trump derangement syndrome, we are talking about on steroids,” Ms Storer said. “This has now reached such a hysterical level people are taking to social media to call for Trump’s assassination.”

Trump survives assassination attempt. But this should come as no surprise. Years of hatred promoted by mainstream media and the left must be seen as part of the reason this happened. Bjorn pulls multiple videos from the past few years regarding the media and entertainment's encouragement. He is not an American, but offers a good observation from a common foreigner how the world is watching events here.

An out-of-town police officer shot and killed an individual early Tuesday afternoon in Milwaukee, said two Milwaukee law enforcement sources. Brian Steel, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Capitol City Lodge No. 9, confirmed that Columbus police were involved in a shooting in Milwaukee. The shooting occurred near North 14th and West Vliet Streets outside of the security perimeter for the Republican National Convention, said Milwaukee law enforcement sources, who asked not to be named publicly because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the ongoing investigation. The Journal Sentinel has reporters at the scene.

Title: The Democratic Party's Leadership Dilemma: A Call for Change or Continued Decline? This morning, while chatting with a few of my neighbors, the conversation veered toward the challenges facing the Democratic Party and President Joe Biden. The consensus was clear: the recent poor debate performances, leadership mix-ups, and even mentions of Vice President Trump have left many questioning the party’s future. If the Democrats persist with Biden, it’s likely that millions of their supporters will sit out the upcoming elections. While not all may switch their allegiance to Trump, voter turnout will undoubtedly suffer—a looming concern for Democratic leadership....

The debate last night was an American tragedy. While everyone is focused on President Biden's performance, I cannot dismiss the underlying question: What is wrong with the Democrat party? The inner circle knows just how bad things with Biden are, other world leaders witnessed it a few weeks ago in France. And most conservative voters knew it 4 years ago. Republicans have always marveled at the lock-step of the democrat machine. Every member toeing the line and their ability to keep members within the coalition. Right now as we see the abuse of an elderly and feeble old man democrat...

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — The Norwegian government on Tuesday signed a deal to start stockpiling grain, saying the COVID-19 pandemic, a war in Europe and climate change have made it necessary. The deal to store 30,000 tons of grain in 2024 and 2025 was signed by agriculture and food minister Geir Pollestad, finance minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum and four private companies. The wheat, which will belong to the Norwegian government, will be stored in already existing facilities by the companies in facilities across the country. • Cleveland City Hall to Reopen to Public Thursday Following Ransomware Attack

    06/21/2024 2:51:22 AM PDT · by EBH · 1 replies
Ten days after a cybersecurity threat shut down dozens of routine services and threw a wrench into daily city business, Cleveland City Hall is planning—finally—to reopen Thursday at noon. On June 10, the city announced a "cyber attack" had hindered regular operations, leading to a sudden shut down, which meant hundreds of employees working remote and residents shut out from the building. Days later, the attack was categorized as ransomware, meaning hackers had penetrated an open door in the city's digital infrastructure and potentially held files or servers hostage. It's unclear if Clevelanders' personal data was comprised, as is possible...
  • Switzerland makes second interest rate cut as major economies diverge on monetary policy easing

    CNBC ^ | 6/20/24
The Swiss National Bank on Thursday trimmed its key interest rate by 25 basis points to 1.25%, continuing cuts at a time when sentiment over monetary policy easing remains mixed among major economies. Two thirds of economists polled by Reuters had anticipated the SNB would decide in favor of a 25-basis-point-cut to 1.25%. The Swiss franc weakened in the wake of the announcement, with the Euro gaining 0.3% and the U.S. dollar up 0.5% against the Swiss currency at 8:55 a.m. London time. Following the Thursday decision, the Swiss central bank pegged its conditional forecast for inflation at 1.3% for...

Hundreds of security forces fired tear gas and water cannons at rioting demonstrators outside the National Congress building in Buenos Aires on Wednesday as protesters called on senators to reject President Javier Milei’s sweeping reform plan. Demonstrators who were protesting against the proposed reforms, which are being debated by lawmakers in the lower house, were dealt with aggressively by riot police and Border Guard officers. As the protest turned ugly, two cars were set alight by what appeared to be protesters. Police later said that at least 18 people, 16 men and two women, had been arrested amid the disturbances....

CLEVELAND (WJW) — The woman accused of stabbing a 3-year-old boy and his mother in a local Giant Eagle parking lot went before a judge to be arraigned Monday morning, but what is typically a quick court proceeding became a more lengthy process as the judge asked the defendant multiple times if she had received her indictment. At first, Bionca Ellis, 33, appeared for the hearing via video from the Cuyahoga County Jail. She sat silently with her head down. “Ms. Ellis, why don’t you want to answer these questions?” asked the judge.

The FOX 8 I-Team learned the city of Cleveland is investigating what it calls a “cyber incident.” A spokesperson for the mayor’s office said, “We have not confirmed its nature and scope, we are taking this incident seriously. NATO is creating a series of "land corridors" that would be used to rush U.S. troops across Europe to confront Russian forces in the event of a major conflict with Moscow, The Telegraph reported on June 4. Warnings that the Kremlin could attack a NATO country in the near future have increased in urgency in recent months. Eirik Kristoffersen, Norway's top general, said the military alliance only has two to three years to prepare, Bloomberg reported on June 3. "At one point someone said it'll take 10 years (before Russia reconstitutes its offensive capacity), but I think we're back to...

In a July 2014 panel hosted by the Post, Woodward called the pardon “an act of courage.” He had talked with Ford decades after the pardon and said the former President made a “very compelling argument” for his actions based on national security and economic needs. The late Senator Ted Kennedy said in 2001 that while he initially opposed the pardon, he had come to accept it as the best move for the country. And Richard Ben-Veniste, a former Watergate prosecutor and a Democrat, wrote about the pardon shortly after Ford’s passing in 2006. “Did Ford make the right decision...
