  • Is McCain inching towards Pawlenty?

That’s an unwelcome truth, but Pawlenty has done a lot to destabilize the bureaucracy. During his first year as governor, he completely balanced the budget, turning our $4.3 billion dollar deficit into revenue neutral without raising any taxes, primarily by slashing social services and welfare. Minnesota still has A LOT of work to do, but I’m willing to bet that this state is going to turn from hard blue to purple to hard red in another two decades at most.

What it must have been like to live in that time period is beyond me. Sometimes I think I’ve been born 160 years too late.

Wetterling ran for the 6th District House seat in 2004 and 2006 and lost against Kennedy and Bachmann, so I have no idea where you heard that the glorious 6th District voted in that nutcase. (God forbid we could have.)

The Muslims on the SE side are generally very friendly and hard workers. Surprisingly, I’ve even met a few conservative Muslims who agree with a lot of the GOP’s positions. My uncle met a couple Iranians who emigrated from Persia and they consistently tell him that immediate intervention in the Islamic Republic is 100% necessary. Irregardless, we’ll see how they throw their weight around in November. Unfortunately, I have a feeling the voter turnout for that demographic will be very low.

Worry not, Cloud 9 is still very conservative. American flags, pro-life bumper stickers and “support our troops” ribbons are relatively abundant. Even the now mythical George W. Bush ‘04 campaign stickers can be spotted once in a blue moon. I wouldn’t go as far as to rank it the most conservative city in the Great Plains, but it is definitely up there, and could possibly be the most conservative city in the Upper Midwest.

The 10th Street Bridge (University Bridge as it is now called) is still standing and in good condition. Good thing it is to, because that and Veteran’s Bridge are now the only two ways of getting across to the east side apart from going all the way to Sauk Rapids/Sartell and taking either the Bridge of Hope or the Sauk Rapids Regional Bridge.

Saint Cloud and the 6th District is still very conservative, as is evident by Bachmann. The CPVI ranks us at R+5. We’ve had a lot of CODEPINK rallies here lately (no thanks to sponsorship by the cancer known as SCSU), but I have no doubts that there’s a huge resurgence of conservatism in the Greater Saint Cloud area (surprisingly by a lot of youth) and I think we’ll see that reflected in the exit polls come November.

“You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers in arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely.

I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.”
    - Dwight D. Eisenhower, June 5th, 1944

Uh, I’ve now been in fifty......seven states? I think I have one left to go. Uh, one left to go, uh, Alaska and Hawaii I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit but my staff would not, uh, justify it.

He’s done absolutely nothing to stop the ethanol plague. About a million acres of South Dakotan grassland managed by the CRP (Conservation Reserve Program) went up in smoke this year - ALL OF IT piled into corn - I can’t imagine what the numbers are here. I find it ironic that one of the main reasons the corn is being planted is because of ethanol, yet the planting of this corn is causing huge damage to a lot of wildlife which ethanol improves (supposedly). Ring-neck pheasant populations in the areas where CRP grass has been transplanted into corn are expected to be completely decimated - some estimating that it will be roughly 1 - 2% of their former populations.

Pawlenty also got swept up into the great Minnesota infrastructure heist because of the I-35W Bridge Collapse. One of the two major heists that were caused by this collapse was actually in my city (Saint Cloud MN) - the DeSoto Bridge, which shared a similar design to the I-35W Bridge, was closed indefinitely and is expected to be completely replaced by 2009. And guess what? It’s all paid for by the TAXPAYER. What a joke.

Other than that, Pawlenty has great stances on all of Minnesota’s social issues. He’s extensively pro-life and other than his little infrastructure adventure after I-35W, he’s really started to decrease the enormous bureaucracy around Minnesota.

I’m just glad I live where I live - any further south and you get swamped by rabid Minneapolis liberalism and progressivism.

As a proud Minnesotan, I think this would be absolutely great, but I don’t think it’ll help the GOP in the Mid-Atlantic states. He’s going to need Romney, who would really help him in the Rust Belt - at least a lot more than an “unknown” (outside of Minnesota) like Pawlenty.

I must admit that there are always though who give a bad reputation to their country and to their corps. Just take comfort in knowing that only a small minority of soldiers support the very enemy that this Republic is fighting against.

When I say “Marin County scum”, it does not apply to location, but rather to general distaste. It can be used in New York just as much as it can be used anywhere else outside of Marin County.

Merkels did not give a speech to thousands of Americans on the steps of the Lincoln Monument and thus had no easy way to be noticed.

“It is unusual to do electioneering abroad. It is unusual to hold election rallies abroad. No German candidate for high office would even think of using the National Mall (in Washington) or Red Square in Moscow for a rally because it would not be seen as appropriate.”

    Two things:

1.) They will NEVER find a replacement for Heath Ledger, who displayed one of the best acting performances I’ve seen in a very, very long time. His representation of what the Joker should be was absolutely fantastic, and although he was a typical Hollywood lib who wasted his talent on drugs, I do mourn for his death based on his irreplaceable performance and his children.

2.) Two-Faced should not have died. If you guys correctly remember the cartoon, Two-Faced lasted for dozens of Batman: The Cartoon seasons, not just one. He should be resurrected immediately.
