For months, supporters of conservative Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell have been hearing the same argument from the Delaware GOP establishment: "Well, sure, she's a good conservative, but Mike Castle can win." Castle's 2007-08 ratings (20 and 28, respectively) by the American Conservative Union marked him as one of the most liberal Republicans in Congress. It would seem as if Rep. Mike Castle is pretty good at the political game of earmarks. He has sponsored or co-sponsored fifty-one earmarks totaling $51,874,600 for the fiscal year of 2010. This number gets him a ranking of 43rd out of 435 representatives.That puts him in the top ten percent of earmark spending. Now there’s something to be proud of.

Although it’s racing to roll out consumer-friendly aspects of the health care law before November’s midterm elections, the Obama administration has just missed the deadlines to set up task forces on breast cancer and health care in Alaska. The health care law required Health and Human Services to establish the breast cancer task force by last weekend and the Alaska task force by the first week of May.
