My FIL always wondered why “evolved” humans had ass hair while many lower animals did not. If these intellects can solve that one, I’ll donate a dozen rolls of what those blue bears wipe their bums with.
crowds in the city ballooning in anticipation for the Sugar Bowl college football playoff game
That makes me feel old as I was in that crowd 60 years ago last night. Everybody was celebrating and feeling no pain. Al Hirt was blowing Java with all his lung power and folks were downing Hurricanes like iced tea. The freak thing that happened that night was it snowed in New Orleans for the first time in 80 years. The game on New Year's day was boring, Mississippi and Alabama trading field goals.
I knew Will in Junior College. We both played trombone in a jazz band so he had a musical background, but I didn’t know he had any lyricist in him until I saw him win the Oscar for “Up Where We Belong”. That was a nice shock. News of his death is certainly a terrible shock.
Booking on foreign sites/travel agents also works for hotels, I was able yo get two cheap fares from Paris to Madrid on a Columbian airliner as well as two low priced/centrally located rooms in Madrid by using a Spanish booking company.
Do you remember the first TV you ever watched? For me, it was a neighbor’s B&W about 1949. What I recall was similar to what Arnold watched on Green Acres, a posse chasing bandits with hooves kaclopping, then the bandits with the same sound effects plus gunfire.
We had radio which gave us Jack Benny and Rochester and Mel Blanc. Also, Gunsmoke with no boring posse chases. The Shadow provided mystery and some “magic” for the imagination.
Instead of walking, we rode our bikes everywhere: to the movies on Saturday (parked them behind the library); to the lake with our rifles on the handlebars; and to school.
“Agree .. everyone should carry a glass breaker in their vehicle.”
Actually, everyone does have several glass breakers in their vehicle—they are the removable head rests on the front and back seats. The metal rods are designed as glass breakers.
I saw this on one of those videos about little known car facts.
