You know, I really didn’t enjoy Todd on the radio, but he seems like a nice person, and it’s too bad he’s being shafted in this way.

    Merry Christmas!!

Oh good, now he’s complaining about money. Ha ha ha!

Accentuate the positive is almost a cop out. I don’t want to hear that.

Oh, Ira Motor Group - he must have his ride back.

And the poll question’s about Hillary. Ick.

I KNEW I knew that voice! Thank you for the enlightenment!

Someone has some great old TV38 commercials out on YouTube. Watching those really dragged me down memory lane. Sheesh, now I just want to go home and watch 80’s cartoons. Well, not the GoBots, they were lame. ;-) Thank goodness for AdultSwim on Cartoon Network. (Yes, someone can like both Howie and Aqua Teen Hunger Force).

Aaaah, yeah, TV Diner is the show I’ve seen more recently.

I’m glad to hear that Creature Double Feature is back. I don’t remember the host, but how can one forget Godzilla’s many adventures?

I also remember the Movie Loft on TV38, and the guy who hosted that was very mellow. TV38 had the Red Sox and Bruins, too, before NESN came into being.

It’s pretty pathetic to take a trip down memory lane on TV. :D

Man, I miss 38 and 56. We had them in Portland on cable when I was a kid - they had great cartoons, and I rarely missed the “Creature Double Feature”. Some enterprising Mainer had to open up replacement stations up here. Oh, well. When those stations became affiliated with UPN and the WB (I think that was when I was in college in Worcester, early/mid 90’s) they just weren’t as good, anyway.

I don’t remember Howie from TV, which is too bad. It would be neat if he had a TV show again - hopefully it would be syndicated up north, at least a little.

Wasn’t the Phantom Gourmet on New England Cable News once? Is it still? I remember watching it on that station, fairly recently.

Did someone on the chump line just say that Howie and VB would be on the show soon? Maybe I’m hearing things...

Well, whatever happens, apparently the listeners get the shaft. It’s amazing the negativity out there, I would guess that Howie may have lost quite a few listeners. If he doesn’t end up in the AM slot, will he be able to make them up after this fiasco?

It would be neat if this was big enough news to be played on the news bumps on WRKO today, and that it would have to be discussed on Todd’s program. The radio silence with respect to this stuff is very annoying.

I have to wonder about a move to Florida, as many have suggested. It would be rough on his family to have to switch schools, especially during the school year (plus school quality in MA is somewhat better than FL - probably even private school). Only they know though.

Well, they’ll be paying him a lot - maybe he’ll come back to WRKO anyway. Maybe they’ll even relent and give him the morning show, if that is what he really wants. And maybe the devil will have to buy a pair of ice skates tomorrow...

So does this mean he’ll not be coming back to radio, or will time change things with respect to his contract? This is too bad. Guess the radio won’t be getting better any time soon.

Sandy’s not there today - she must be at Howie’s hearing.

Here’s hoping it all goes well!

And now Howie’s on jury duty, according to Sandy.

At least they’ve actually started talking about him.

Wow, they are crawling out of the woodwork against Todd today. A couple of derisive comments so far. Woo hoo!!!

He’s talking about a painter that paints with his behind, and someone took the opportunity to call him an @$$.

Another said “the Todd Fineburg radio network” and Todd said “not quite yet”. Very interesting. Then the guy said something subtly derisive, which was good.

That's an echinda, not a porcupine.

    This is a porcupine:

Why anyone on this earth would think a porcupine makes a good pet is beyond me. The quills detach easily and are barbed, and embed themselves in skin quite easily. I can't wait to read future articles from a rash of UK citizens whose curious dogs' noses have been filled with quills. Good luck finding a vet over there to take them out!

I like the idea of recording the shows online. That would mean never being able to call in again, which would be too bad, but better than not having Howie around!

Hey, did you notice that WRKO has a job opening for a 9-12 radio show? I wonder if they're considering that Feinberg will be a permanent afternoon fixture. I'm going to be optimistic and say that's a good sign!

WRKO is looking for a midday show host to fill our 9A- noon slot. Candidates should have at least two years experience hosting or co-hosting their own show. The host must have an intimate knowledge of national and global issues in addition to local Massachusetts politics, history and culture. The WRKO midday host will be expected to possess a savvy understanding of the news cycle, including spending a considerable amount of time in the field, establishing connections with community leaders, political principals and other influential and notable people. We're searching for a personality, someone who can establish a relationship with the audience beyond just the exchanging of ideas. Candidates should be extremely opinionated who are unfazed by a back-and-forth of strong ideas and opinions, and someone who is a team player, supportive and respective of fellow staffers. Please forward your resumes to hrboston@entercom.com or Entercom Boston, Attn: Human Resources, 20 Guest Street, 3rd Floor, Brighton, MA 02135. Entercom is an equal opportunity employer.

I especially like the "team player" bit (emboldened above). They want someone who is opinionated and obnoxious, yet respectful and meek. Bipolar candidates line up!

I hope SOMETHING positive happens for us listeners, and that he’s still syndicated, or at least on internet radio. I’m glad to have a place where my sentiments are shared. I’m a loyal listener for over 6 years, and I feel like there’s a hole in my afternoons. At least we have his columns...

While he was out burning his vacation time (unbeknownst to me) I was just happy to hear his intermittent shows, and for the past two weeks I’d been hoping he’d show up on some random day. If I hadn’t Googled, I’d never have known. I have a feeling the average listener doesn’t know what’s going on, especially in areas like mine where Howie isn’t a huge media force. With Sandy and Todd speaking as if Howie will be walking back through the door any minute, it’s a very good farce.

I’m in Central Maine, near Augusta, between the Howie hot spots on WVOM FM in Bangor and WGAN AM in Portland. WVOM’s “network” had a few FM stations with Howie’s show a couple of years ago, but Clear Channel took him off the one I could hear clearly in my area. I was thrilled when WRKO finally got a permanent, reliable internet broadcast a couple of years ago. If I’m in my car, I’ll just hear garbled transmissions, but I listen online all I can. I really enjoyed the internet replay show on WRKO during the 12-3 slot, since I usually don’t catch most of the 5-7 slot. I hope that a similar format happens wherever he ends up, so I can hear his shows. (I also hope he can keep his fun segments - Wizard of Uhhs, Max Robbins, Death Pool, Chump Line, Police Blotter Fax Friday, et al, etc., ad infinitum.)

I wonder if there’s anything people can do to get the word out, besides all of the great websites that are out there. I wonder if calls to WRKO would be effective, or a letter writing campaign. (I wonder how many calls about this Sandy gets and can’t air.) Just give the guy his freedom!

I just learned about the whole sordid story today. I finally thought to Google “Howie Carr”, thinking he had a disease or something. I’m very glad that he doesn’t! What a big mess - I really hope that somebody smartens up and gets Howie back on the radio soon. Just give him what he wants - he deserves it!
