That's an echinda, not a porcupine.

This is a porcupine:



Why anyone on this earth would think a porcupine makes a good pet is beyond me. The quills detach easily and are barbed, and embed themselves in skin quite easily. I can't wait to read future articles from a rash of UK citizens whose curious dogs' noses have been filled with quills. Good luck finding a vet over there to take them out!

Good catch! You’re absolutely right. Don’t know whether an echinda is on the list but it’d make an odd children’s book title ... My Echinda Named Linda Escaped our the Winda!
