Georgia law limits the referendum process to ONE issue at a time. The law that passed made BOTH Gay marriage AND Civil Unions Illegal in the State of Georgia. These are two SEPERATE, although admittedly RELATED, issues.

This ocurred despite the fact that many voters who oppose Gay marriage do NOT oppose Civil Unions and if given the opportunity would have voted as such.

The law as it was worded did not permit people who support Civil Unions but who oppose Gay marriage to cast their votes in a way that reflects that position.

Hence todays decision.

Well, using the logic of many in this thread, a traditional fairy tale depicting a Prince and a Princess would ALSO be in violation of Massachusetts law regarding the teaching of Human Sexuality in Public schools.

If the teaching of same sex relationships in Public schools violates this law, it also stands to reason that the teaching of Heterosexual relationships in Public schools does so as well.

You CAN'T have it both ways people.

These men and women have fought and in some cases died for this Country. How DARE you suggest that they are not entitled to all the same benefits as are any other patriotic American Veteran.

I have NEVER posted in support of the Gay Games.

I simply answered another posters question as to whether or not they were open to other than Gay athletes.

As to my ACLU comments. I guess we can agree to disagree.

The Gay Games are not exclusively Gay. Straight people are perfectly welcome to participate.

This campaign is hopelessly misguided.
The ACLU has NEVER opposed the use of the phrase "Merry Christmas" by private citizens. The claim that it has done so is just plain FALSE. What it HAS done, and here you can legitimately disagree, is to fight the GOVERNMENT FUNDING of religious imagery. Disagree with the ACLU by all means, but please at least be honest about the nature of your disagreement.
The ACLU has NOTHING against the celebration of Christmas, what it DOES have is an issue with the GOVERNMENT FUNDING of religeous imagery and that's a different thing entirely.

Christians actually have a vested interest in this by virtue of the fact that the Government COULD one day be funding Satanic imagery and without the seperation of Church and State in our Nation's Constitution there would be NOTHING a good Christian could do about it.
