A Florida congressional candidate apologized to an officer after threatening to ruin their career during a traffic stop. A congressional candidate from the Sarasota area, Martin Hyde issued the apology Wednesday, WFLA reported. The officer’s body camera captured the incident of pulling Hyde over on Valentine’s Day. The video shows the female officer explaining to Hyde that she pulled him over for speeding and texting while driving, WFLA reported. Hyde asked the officer, “You know who I am, right?” and threatened to call the police chief.

Graduate students at the University of Nebraska and other universities around the country are raising concerns over one provision of the broader tax overhaul approved on a party-line vote in the House of Representatives on Thursday. Tuition waivers offered to graduate students and those in doctorate programs are not taxed as income under current tax laws, but the bill introduced by House Republicans would remove that exemption. LINCOLN, Neb. -- Attorney General Jon Bruning stopped hinting and started running for U.S. Senate on Thursday. Bruning made the announcement through state Treasurer Shane Osborn. After calling Hagel's Omaha office last week to let him know I didn't agree with him.
