Great Example of not to send anything to Canada. I sent my son a package two weeks in advance of his birthday. The box was clearly marked "gift," "happy birthday," and the USPS label clearly was marked "gift." It arrived a week late and he was required to pay GST, PST, Excise, Transport, and Import fees to pick it up. The fees were more than the total cost of the gift! He was told he could apply for a refund if the Customs guys made a mistake. What a screwed up country! Bunch of hosers, eh?!

On a tour of Texas, the Pope took a couple of days off to visit the coastal area for some sightseeing. He was cruising along the sea wall on Galveston Isle in his Pope mobile when suddenly he notices a frantic commotion just
    off shore.

There was John Kerry struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 25-foot shark. As the Pope watched, horrified, a speedboat came racing up with two men aboard.

One of the men, President George W. Bush quickly fired a harpoon into the shark's side while Dick Cheney reached out and pulled the bleeding, semi-conscious John Kerry from the water. Then using (autographed Round Rock Express) baseball bats, the two heroes beat the shark to death and hauled it
    into the boat.

Immediately the Pope shouted and summoned them to the beach. "I give you my blessings for your brave actions," he told them. "I heard that there was some bitter hatred between President Bush and John Kerry, but now I have
seen with my own eyes that this is not true."

As the Pope drove off, President Bush asked Dick "Who was that? ""It was the Pope," Dick replied. "He is in direct contact with God and has all of God's wisdom."

"Well," President Bush said, "he may have access to God's wisdom, but he doesn't know squat about shark fishing...........how's the bait holding up?"

I like your tag-line. What is the possibility that after President Bush gets re-elected, serves his term, then runs as Vice President under Cheney who may or may not last the term, making for a third term? Interesting concept.

Funny you should mention that. I was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and the crowds were smaller than expected. This was stated throughout the week I was there by everyone from hucksters on the street to the club owners up and down Bourbon Street. Most people tried to say the weather kept them away (it rained the last 3 days but not all day). I was pretty disappionted...looks like Rio next year!

I agree. Money and "enacting promises made" are strong points on Newsome's side. Think about it...he gets elected by promising to make gays "equal in the law" of the city. He waits for the right moment...bang! Let 'em in! Now think about each license fee (swagg here)...$60 each(?) times 3700 issued equals $222,000 for the city. When the courts finally nullify all the marriages, do you think the city is going to refund the money? Not bloody likely!

The homosexual agenda, as referred to by many in FReepdom, is an active and aggressive agenda. As with any political change, the way to an end is small steps. Have the populace see that gays are cute and no reason to fear gets acceptance of them so long as they are not on "my street." Later, start spreading their lifestyle through the use of "cute" television programming, especially by focusing on them as objects of violence from "exceptionally homophobic heterosexual males." This gives rise to legal protection as a lifestyle and stricter sentencing of "alleged hate crimes." Pushing their "marriage" agenda is just the next logical step to becoming another "race" on a job application and accessing the minority platforms. If gay marriage is granted acceptance, what restriction can be placed to prevent them from becoming members of the military? President Bush must succeed in making the amendment to the Constitution for legal marriage to be between a man (1) and a woman (1). Otherwise we as a nation will be sliding ever faster on that slippery slope with no hope of turning around. My thoughts...

Fellow Freeper's, I am currently an active duty Marine who will be retiring in the next year or so. As such, I have been "Honorably Discharged" several times throughout my career. I went to my mailbox today and retreived my mail and there was a letter from Veterans Life Insurance Company out of Valley Forge, Penn. They were offering me life insurance at a very low rate to also include my spouse. Their letter expounded on the fact that I had served so well and that they didn't even need to know my medical status or history to offer this to me. Sounds pretty good so far...so long as you don't continue to read the back and the "Exclusions". In other words, what can kill you but they won't pay as a covered death. The ones that just made me angry enough to write are these: air travel as a pilot or crew member (there goes my pilot's training expenses), any sickness or it's medical or surgical treatment (can't catch that avian flu), operating any motorcycle, motorbike, minibike or moped ( I love my weekend bike rides), and the absolute kicker, any active participation in a riot, insurrection or war, either declared or undeclared (look back at the first sentence). This has so iritated me that I had to write to the one group of people that can understand the anger I am feeling toward this company. I could very easily have thrown the letter into the trash and went on about my busy day but I thought to myself about all the other people out there who had served their country, whether for 3 years or 30. How can a company that supposedly has the veteran's best interests at heart condone such a sales pitch. I really am using my nom-de-plume today as I am very confused but mainly just down right PO'ed. I would welcome any comments. I feel I have cleared this off my chest and can now go about the job of getting ready to defend this great country...again. Semper Fi

Everyone is looking at him as the bad guy. I can tell you from personal experience that having a suicidal spouse is the hardest thing to deal with in the world. My ex-wife tried to commit suicide the 4th year we were married. I took care of her for 16 years and through many more attempts. Knives, drugs, vehicle attempts, nothing was not tried. But through it all she only attempted to hurt herself. It was when she attempted to kill first our daughter and then me before she then turned the knife on herself that I had to get clear of her. I was able to get custody of my daughter due to her mental state. But through all the years of seeing psychiatrists and counselors not a thing changed at the end...she wanted to end her life and nothing anyone said or did was going to change her mind. She has not succeeded to my knowledge as I no longer maintain contact with her but I will never forget the years of fearing to come home and find her dead in the living room or bath tub. This man will have a lot more personal knowledge than any of the family or prosecutors. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt until something is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
