The last time I subscribed to Disney+ was when I wanted to see the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. I have been a Star Wars fan for most of my life and that meant giving the Disney stuff a fair shot.
That was well over two years ago. And Disney has mangled Star Wars beyond recognition. I have no desire to partake in anything Disney produces ever again.
I don’t care what this person is whining about. We cared enough back in the day forty years ago. If she and her family entered this country legally then that’s well and good. But she wants something else entirely.
Weird Al asked Cobain for permission to parody “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. Cobain asked if Al’s version would be about food. Al straight up told him that it wasn’t, that it was going to be about how no one could understand what Nirvana was singing. Cobain loved the idea!
Four years ago I was working a job that I loved, helping people with severe mental illness have much more meaningful and productive lives than they ever had before.
I would have done that job forever if I could.
I had to leave it two years ago, because it wasn't paying enough to afford my rent and bills.
Since then I've had a string of jobs that barely get me through. Nothing as fulfilling as the mental health job was.
For that, I hate Biden and Harris with a seething passion.
I'm not "watching" this. Instead I do as I do whenever there's a debate or an address or whatever: I keep my back turned to the TV and listen instead. Without the distraction of the visuals. I have no idea what Harris looks like right now.
I do hear though. And I am hearing nothing good coming from Harris. Just rhetoric and platitudes and talk of "plans".
I heard him speak at Virginia Tech in 2003. He expressed reluctance at being called an African American, noting that he was also part Cherokee and part Irish.
I used to be one of the biggest Star Wars fans around. I did a LOT out of love for the saga. Even had a Star Wars-themed marriage proposal to my (now ex) wife. I've been able to meet most of the cast of the first two trilogies, including an afternoon spent with Carrie Fisher.
What Disney has done to the franchise, especially The Acolyte, turned me off of Star Wars forever.
Okay, not ALL of it. I still have the Blu-rays of episodes 1-6. But everything else is dead to me.
