Baseball Hall of Famer and former Yankee Wade Boggs has prostate cancer.
He made the announcement Saturday night on social media and sounded optimistic, saying he will be ready to take part in the ritual cancer patients have of ringing a bell when they’ve concluded their treatment.
“With the strength and support of my family and my faith in God, I’m going to ring that damn bell,” Boggs wrote, adding a photo of a prostate cancer patient guide.

If he’s been diagnosed early, he should make out fine... Lot’s of people now survive Prostate cancers... If they catch them early.
Get a colonoscopy and do your PSA counts regularly.
Sorry to hear this and I wish him luck. I hope to join him in ringing that bell myself sometime soon.
You go, Wade! I have an ex-BIL, who we still include as family member, who is 3 years out from his stage 4 diagnosis.
And seems to be doing fine. It hasn’t gotten worse. Something else is likely to get him before prostate cancer does.
Related to Hale Boggs.
I believe he spent most of his career on the Red Sox as the third baseman, so it’s weird that they just mentioned him on the Yankees
Prayers up for Wade Boggs.
Been there and fought that crap. 2018. So far so good, good luck Mr Boggs. Survival rate if caught early is pretty good. Hope he gets better.
What color is the prostate cancer ribbon?
Article is in New York Post. Inducted as a Red Sox, but played for Yankees , won a World Series with them in 1996.
Teal Blue
I hope you do also.
Prayers.
prolly shouldn’t have got that shot...
and yes, we’ll see many many more of these types of things in the coming 5 yrs
Thank you.
My belief is his walk that he drew won the World series for the Yankees
It’s light blue; not teal blue.
If it was caught before it has metastasized, it’s pretty much 100% curable.
If he has a great surgeon, he won’t have any more than 3-4 months of urinary and ED issues. After that, those issues won’t be a problem.
He will also likely need a penis pump to get the blood flowing for a while.
I was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer with 8 bone mets 10 years ago this month. Was told by one oncologist I’d have 3-5 years. My current oncologist has told me for the last 3 years my cancer will most likely never progress because I have responded so well to just one androgen deprivation therapy medication.
Best wishes to Biggs for a quick and complete recovery.
