A student who held up her own American flag at a North Carolina campus Tuesday, after an anti-Israel mob desecrated an American flag flying on campus, said she would die for Old Glory. Anti-Israel protesters targeted the American flag on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's quad — which had been flying at half-mast after four Charlotte officers were killed in the line of duty. At one point, they replaced it with a Palestinian flag – enraging students and inspiring members from the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity to take action. "I definitely was emotionally a little bit shaken,"...

A 'woke' gender row has broken out among Games Workshop fantasy fans after women were added to an army squadron for the first time. Bosses behind the Warhammer game have introduced a female character to one of its most popular table-top battalions whose devotees include film star Henry Cavill. But some men are furious at the move, insisting that the 'Adeptus Custodes' brigade has always been all-male and any changes should have been done differently. A new edition of Warhammer 40,000 fantasy fiction introduces a character named 'Custodian Calladyce Taurovalia Kesh' - and using female pronouns for her. Long-time fans...

Fifty years ago tonight after a nine-month gestation I was decanted from my mother's womb. I very nearly didn't survive. When I came out I wasn't breathing or moving at all. It was twelve minutes before inhalation was finally induced. Some have wondered if I've been brain damaged because of that. I don't know. But here I am fifty years later, feeling better than when I turned thirty. God has brought me far, past a lot of dark times and pain. But I'm in a place where I'm truly thankful and looking forward to where the next fifty years take...

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A possible moonshine cave has been discovered under the stands at the North Wilkesboro Speedway, according to a statement released by the NWS on Tuesday. During cleaning and inspection last week, staff noticed cracks in concrete in section N. Crews began removing seats to evaluate damage and repair needs. “When we began renovating and restoring North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2022, we’d often hear stories of how an old moonshine still was operated here on the property under the grandstands,” said Steve Swift, senior vice president of operations and development at Speedway Motorsports. “Well, we haven’t...

Star Wars mastermind George Lucas — Disney’s largest individual shareholder — has come out with a statement supporting Disney’s board and CEO Bob Iger, urging Mouse House investors to reject bids by two activist investor groups to take seats on the media company’s board. “Creating magic is not for amateurs,” Lucas said in a statement released Tuesday. “When I sold Lucasfilm just over a decade ago, I was delighted to become a Disney shareholder because of my longtime admiration for its iconic brand and Bob Iger’s leadership.” Lucas continued, “When Bob recently returned to the company during a difficult time,...

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office got more than a dozen calls on Saturday after a sonic boom caused by low-flying jets shocked residents and caused damage ranging from items falling off walls to broken glass. The sheriff’s office took calls from Pomona Park, Lake Como, Crescent City and as far north as Palatka, and several people reported seeing two low-flying jets and hearing loud booms, which were the result of the jets breaking the sound barrier. One caller said they saw the sonic boom bubble. The jets involved were F-15s from the Florida Air National Guard....

Actress and MMA star Gina Carano is suing the Walt Disney Company for firing her from the Star Wars series The Mandalorian in 2021, alleging the studio violated California law by discriminating against her over her political beliefs. Gina Carano filed the suit against Disney and its Lucasfilm division Tuesday in a California federal court. In a notable plot twist, her court case is being funded by Elon Musk’s X, which has pledged to finance lawsuits of those who claim to have been discriminated against by their employer because of their statements made on the social media platform. Carano is...

Senior Biden administration aides summoned Amazon officials to the White House during the height of the pandemic to discuss “propaganda and misinformation” in books for sale on the retail giant’s website that questioned the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines. White House officials “spent a week berating Amazon” in March 2021 over books related to “vaccine misinformation” and asked what steps company officials could take “to reduce the visibility of these titles,” according to Amazon emails released Monday by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, Ohio Republican. The Amazon pressure campaign overseen by Andy Slavitt, who was Mr. Biden’s senior...

Around the mid-Eighties there was an animated series based on the beloved Berenstain Bears children's books. The show ran on Saturday mornings on CBS. It was pretty good as I seem to recall. And often quite humorous.Well, the other day one of the episodes sprang to mind as I was reading the news about the latest attempt to avoid a government shutdown. It involved the Bear kiddies learning all about money. How those little green pieces of paper don't have value on their own. Instead they must be backed up by something with real tangible worth. In the bears' world...

Doctor Who returned to screens tonight as part of Children in Need, with a special five-minute scene featuring the Daleks and their creator Davros. ... Davros, played once again by Julian Bleach, looked different to to how viewers might remember him – and while fans might have assumed that's simply because this particular scene was set prior to the accident that left the character scarred and reliant on his support unit, Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies has explained that there was more to it than that. Speaking on new BBC Three companion series Doctor Who Unleashed, Davies said: "We...

Remnants of an underwater community that has been abandoned and unseen for many years suddenly became visible over the weekend as the murky waters of Jordan Lake sank to unusually low levels – likely due to the recent drought. Thousands of people pass by Jordan Lake each year, never realizing the ruins hidden just beneath the lake's surface. For years, these ruins have been virtually invisible, but lower water levels recently revealed dozens of artifacts, lost roadways, underwater train tracks and even foundations from the old farm houses that once utilized the rich farmland now lost beneath the lake. Over...

In the final years of his legendary life, Popcorn Sutton put his wife up on a pedestal – and on the catwalk above the 2,500-gallon pots where his moonshine was being distilled. It’s only fitting the woman the notorious moonshiner was sweet on learned to stir the sugar. “He made the best moonshine this side of the Mississippi, and I don’t care what anybody else says,” Pam Sutton told Knox News. “A lot of these so-called moonshiners would come and buy it from Popcorn and take it back home and sell it as their own and tell people they made...

Fun's over, kids. As Windows Central reports, Microsoft appears to have lobotomized its Bing Image Creator. The DALL-E 3-powered image-generating AI was integrated into Bing's platform last week, prompting netizens to quickly test its guardrails. As it turns out, those guardrails were incredibly ineffective, with users — 404 Media's Samantha Cole notable among them — quickly realizing that they were able to generate problematic, copyright-infringement-laden AI generations of beloved cartoon characters like Disney's Mickey Mouse doing things like wearing bomb-covered vests and perpetrating the 9/11 terror attacks.
