in reference to the jihadists seeking info on a zionist structure "resembling the pentagon", "somewhat high", and "easily accessible"...that one kinda scared me.

i work in a federally owned building in indianapolis that is 2nd only to the pentagon in terms of size. instead of a pentagon, it's a sort of figure 8, with 2 inner courtyards. it's 3 stories tall, houses about 3,000 employees, and recently completed a $125 million renovation. this building houses the defense finance and accounting service, one of several regional centers (including columbus, denver, cleveland, and pensacola). one of its primary missions is the pay and allowances for the u.s. army, all appropriation and accounting activity for army, and all transportation payments to vendors for army and other services.

in other words, it's a nice target, easily accessible (all land around it was privatized by the base closure commission back in the 90's).

i seriously hope this isn't what the jihadists were referring to, because i'm paranoid enough when i go there as it is. federal protective service does a good job there, but i'm not sure they're up to this sort of challenge.

i think the 'canteen' thing is just a translation issue, not literally referring to anything that holds water. looking at it in context, i interpreted it to mean restaurants, diners, taverns, nightclubs, etc. i think if they meant reservoir or any other body of water, they would have just stated it that way.

just saw this on the top of CNN's website:

Close associate of Osama bin Laden, Khaled al-Harbi, surrenders to Saudi security officials in Tehran, Saudi official says. Details soon.

i've always believed that the purpose of 9/11 was more of a feint, than a death blow. in a fight, it's common to lightly slap or hit an opponent, to startle them, to draw their defensive posture in a certain direction, at which point you deliver the TRUE blow to where they are vulnerable.

this is one of the first lessons i learned in martial arts.

the true blow has yet to happen to us...

sorry if i'm a little lost, but i didn't realize there were 2 separate potential operations being tossed around. i knew of the black winds of death, but can anyone give me a brief synopsis of the 'cave of darkness'? maybe i already heard about it, just not referred to by that name.

if you were to take terrorists at their word, and accept that they are in possession of a functional nuclear device, then it wouldn't matter what day of the week it was. detonating such a device in a dense population center will kill thousands upon thousands whether it be monday, tuesday, friday, sunday or whatever.

also i agree with British chick, the psychological impact of an attack on sunday, a holy day to the nation's predominantly christian population, may be worth the reduced number of casualties. to the jihadists, this is a holy war. why not a symbolic attack upon our sabbath?

i've always wondered about the widespread appeal of islam in our prison system. you hear a lot more stories of inmates finding allah than you do of inmates finding jesus.

to be honest, over the past couple of months, i've come to view islam as a cult. a very well organized, well funded, cult. if you look at it that way, and examine their methods, you might come to agree with me.
