Following its SPAC merger in August, shares of VinFast Auto (NASDAQ:VFS) went on one almighty tear, going from its $11.10 debut price to $93 over the space of two weeks, with the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker’s market cap soaring to $190 billion at some point, making it briefly the world’s third most valuable carmaker, only behind EV colossus Tesla and auto giant Toyota. The comedown, however, as you might expect following such an unlikely surge, has been fast and brutal, with the shares now trading 46% below the debut price. While the improbable former valuation has now come down...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdumwliscIc Youtube, about battery range, for new battery cars. (Range keeps increasing, cost keeps dropping, they keep getting lighter, and now you start to see COMPETITION in the market to fix batteries, rather than replacing the whole battery rig.) Cheaper, and cheaper.

Could the ultimate MAGA ticket actually happen in 2024? As President Trump continues to dominate the Republican primary polls, attention will soon turn to who he will select as his heir apparent. Names such as Kari Lake, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y), and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem have been rumored for months. But yesterday seemed to open up the possibility that Trump may select the one person who most closely hews to his populist, America-first principles. That man is none other than former Fox News host and now X/Twitter star Tucker Carlson.

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has significantly reduced its stake in Chinese electric car manufacturer BYD in a series of sales over the past 18 months, according to recent filings. The most recent share sale occurred on October 25, just days before BYD announced record quarterly earnings. This prompted some analysts to raise their price targets for the company. During the quarter, BYD’s auto segment achieved a net profit of Rmb9.4 billion ($1.28 billion), equivalent to an impressive net profit of Rmb11.4k per car, according to Paul Gong, the head of China auto at UBS Global Research. HANOI (Reuters) - Dutch semiconductor companies and suppliers are planning manufacturing investments in Vietnam, top officials told Reuters on Thursday during a business mission to Hanoi led by outgoing Prime Minister Mark Rutte. Initial known investments are not large, but signal a shift to reduce reliance on China as a hub for exports amid increasing trade tensions between Beijing and the West which have curbed the Netherlands' sales of the most advanced chips to China. Roughly a dozen of the nearly 30 businesses that accompanied Rutte were representatives of chips companies or suppliers of semiconductor firms, according to the delegation's...

Ok this is potentially VERY interesting… Apparently VinFast, is now not only considering sending their VF3 (the new (super)-mini electric car) to America in about a year, but it may even be partly made in America, qualifying it for the $7,500 rebate, in the USA… Meaning the car, which which will actually sell for $20,000 in Vietnam, may actually sell for 12,500 in the USA. I say “may” because I am nowhere near as ready as the original poster, to say it will qualify as-is to be imported to the USA. But it IS a fascinating possibility. Here is the...

VinFast Auto is considering a fifth vehicle for its planned U.S. dealership network: the VF 3 minicar that's specifically designed for the Vietnamese market but could have potential as a sub-$20,000 city car for budget-minded Americans, company representatives told Automotive News. Ford's EV business posted a big loss for the third quarter.. The strike against Ford may be over, but the company's electric vehicle woes are far from solved. The entire auto industry, grappling with steadily softening EV demand over cost and existential infrastructure challenges, is beginning to pull back its efforts to grow the sector. Tesla (TSLA) - Get Free Report, of course, is dealing with falling sales figures and gross margins amid an ongoing price war whose aim is to entice customers to go electric. General Motors (GM) - Get Free Report, still locked in the throes of the...

Less than six months after filing with the Chinese government to add solid-state batteries to three of its EV models, NIO has just filed to include the potentially game-changing technology to 11 more. With dozens of EVs powered by the lighter, safer, and more energy-dense cells, the automotive landscape overseas could soon look very different in that drivers can go further and charge faster. As one of the leading EV automakers in China, NIO ($NIO) is continuing to push innovation to its current limit, at least in terms of range and charge speeds. The company has been leveraging its relationship...

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., on Wednesday gave an impassioned argument that the U.S. government should take back Chinese-owned farmland. The Pennsylvania Democrat spoke during a broader hearing by the Senate Agriculture Committee on foreign ownership in U.S. agriculture and its impact on food security and national security. "I hope many of our colleagues agree, the Chinese government and other U.S. adversaries should own zero, zero agricultural land in our country, I believe that," Fetterman said. "They're taking back our pandas.! We should take back all of their farmland."
