Avira has stirred up some controversy among users after deciding to display ads for a third-party registry cleaner within the free version of its antivirus product. Avira AntiVir Personal, the free solution offered by the German security vendor, is one of the most popular anti-malware products on the market today and has over 100 million users. It seems that Avira recently partnered up with Uniblue, the owners of ProcessLibrary.com, a database of information about Windows processes, and creators of several software products. The partnership between the two companies requires Avira to display ads for Uniblue RegistryBooster within AntiVir Personal. These...

I'm posting this to encourage others to make the effort to amplify their influence like I do. Ever since I began contributing to Free Republic, I made a conscious decision to establish commenting accounts at media websites from which original articles were sourced to FR postings, and then cut and paste my comments written for Free Republic to those sites where it made sense to do so. In that way, I felt that I could increase my own tiny influence just a little bit more. I would encourage everyone here not already doing this to consider it for themselves. It...

I feel for the millions who are out of work at the end of this year. I have so many friends, clients, acquaintances and relatives who are in this boat, as all of us here do. Like you, I do what I can to try and make this situation better, namely I do what I can to try and remove the Obammunists from power, because the unemployment situation will never improve as long as the Obammunists are allowed to continue to hijack the United States to implement their ultra-radical socialist agenda. No one in their right mind is going to...

***NEWS FLASH *** North Pole (AP) - 12/24/10 - In a surprise move today, the Justice Department handed down indictments against Santa Claus (AKA Kris Kringle, Per Noel, Saint Nick) for allegedly employing undocumented guest workers at his North Pole toy factory. Originally alerted by an anonymous tipster known only as “The Grinchâ€, the Justice Department alleges that Claus operates a large toy manufacturing “sweat shopâ€, solely utilizing an illegal labor force. According to the government’s press release, this is “the largest such operation ever detectedâ€. Off the record, one official said, "This operation is completely unprecedented in size,...

Broward Politics Meek says he's staying in Senate race By Russell Small October 28, 2010 10:17 PM Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Kendrick Meek denied reports by the Washington, D.C., political website Politico that former President Bill Clinton tried to convince him to drop out of the race and endorse independent Charlie Crist. “President Clinton did not ask me to drop out of the race,” Meek said at a hastily called press conference Thursday night at his campaign headquarters in Miami Gardens. “No one has called to ask me to drop out.”

In Colorado Congressional District 4, which encompasses the eastern plains of Colorado, Cory Gardner and Betsy Markey, plus two fringe candidates that Markey insisted appear, had their one and only debate tonight, already a week into the start of mail-in ballot voting. Markey had previously canceled several debates she had agreed to appear in, claiming the two fringe candidates had to be included. Despite Markey's unreasonable demands, all major Colorado news outlets refused to break their rules that debates could include only candidates that polled at least 10%. However, NOCO 5, a Northern Colorado cable-only CBS affiliate agreed to her...

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s attorneys sent Simon & Schuster a letter Thursday, hinting that the publisher may have violated several campaign finance laws that prohibit in-kind contributions by corporations by posting on its website a promotional video for a book penned by three top House Republicans. At issue: the publishing house’s promotion of “Young Guns: A New Generation of Conservative Leaders” by Reps. Eric Cantor of Virginia, Kevin McCarthy of California and Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. The DCCC’s attorneys at Perkins Coie sent the New York-based publisher a letter saying it’s improper for a corporation to host a video...

Summary You can object to the Obamunist attempt to take control of the Internet by declaring it to be a telephone service by writing an objection statement in Notepad, Word, etc., and downloading it to the FCC at http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/ecfs2/ and clicking on "Submit a Filing", which is listed under "ECFS Main Links" in a box at the upper left part of the page. You must fill out the personal identification information boxes for your objections to be included in the public record (rather than them simply being ignored). Also, be sure to fill in "10-127" in the "Proceeding Number" box....

To the leaders of the Republican Party, I think it's essential that we Republicans develop a simple, coherent, and easy-to-articulate national platform to channel the massive rage awakened by the Obamunists. We must not lose the opportunity for effecting positive, permanent change that this rage can bring about. We must give this rage a positive focus, namely a goal to permanently take back our country from the radical left. I'm not talking about simply repealing Obamacare. The repeal issue is necessary but not sufficient. I'm talking about permanent, visionary change. Namely, I think the national Republicans should develop a small...

Well, after many hours of phone calls this morning, I finally found out you can't express a USPS letter to your Congressperson in D.C.: it takes two weeks to go through security, so USPS doesn't offer an Express Mail option. Of course, I'm sure that's just for the little people. Obviously, people as important as Congresspersons have some way to communicate more quickly with important people, like big union donors, etc. At any rate, whilst finding this out, I inquired at the D.C. office of Betsy Markey (D CO-4) about her meeting schedule. First, I got past the little phone...

Hi, I just tried to call your office in D.C., but your message box was full, and no one was answering the phone. (Surprise, Surprise, as Gomer Pyle use to say!) I just wanted to urge you to vote for the Senate health care bill so President Obama can sign it into law, as I wish to see the total destruction of the Democrat party for at least a generation. Since there's no chance of significant changes being made via budget reconciliation in the Senate, this will be the law of the land. Any promises to the contrary by Obama...

Senators Lindsy Graham and Jim DeMint explain why the real health care fight is in the House and how discussion of reconciliation is a red herring to distract the public from knowing how to fight this bill: Lindsey GrahamJim DeMint
-
Folks, despite all the rhetoric about reconciliation, the real fight is to get the House to pass the Senate bill, word for word, exactly like it came from the Senate. Until then, there can be no "reconcilliation" vote in the Senate, and furthermore, only the Senate bill, word for word, can be voted on. All the rhetoric about changes to the bill, slimmed down bill, incorporation of Republican ideas is simply nonsense. Both Senator Jim DeMint and Senator Lindsey Graham explained this quite nicely on FNC last night. We must pressure the House members and keep the pressure on. I...

Well, I guess I'm finally forced to admit it. I'm officially "over the hill". I simply didn't "get" most of the Super Bowl ads. Most simply didn't make any sense what so ever to me. When I did figure a couple out, I couldn't figure out what they were advertising. And when I figured out what they were advertising, I didn't know what it was, what it did, why I needed one, and what I would do with it if I got one. And then there seemed to be lots of ads with guys taking their clothes off for no...

I wanted to alert everyone here that TurboTax 2009 is going to attempt to grab your income tax data for unlimited nefarious use by themselves and their partners. Here's how: I've sent the following information to the IRS via mailed Form 3934A, emailed via complaints@tigta.treas.gov, to ripoffreport.com and to the Journal's Walter Mossberg: January 24, 2010 Internal Revenue Service Fraud Department Internal Revenue Service Fresno, CA 93888 To Whom It May Concern, Each year Intuit comes up with a new ripoff scheme for TurboTax. I think they must be doing it for publicity purposes at this point, because no one...
