If his family truly loved and cared about him, he would be living a private life, safe in the care and company of those who truly love bim. St Marks is very flood prone (river) anyway, and the folks there surely knew to get out. Hurricane Dennis did huge damage there in 2005, and wiped out Poseys Oyster Bar (great eats!), which had been there since the 1920s.

Michael did damage to all those places in 2018. Now it’s Idalia. So much for the “No Hurricane Coast” lately.

Yes, it is. St. Marks is really in for it. Wakulla and Franklin Counties will be hit hard. So very sad. I hope everyone in St. Marks, Shell Point, Bald Point, Alligator Point, Panacea, Crawfordville, Sopchoppy, etc., got out.

This is heartbreaking. It is good that it is sparsely populated there, but I do love St Marks. I hope the lighthouse survives.

New track looks like it may make landfall just east of St. Marks.

Now it looks like Idalia has picked up speed and high winds will arrive about 45 minutes *before* high tide and she will make landfall shortly after high tide. Oh dear. It just looks worse and worse.

I looked up the tide tables for the Big Bend area, and it looks like high tide about 45 minutes before high winds arrive. That means high tide waters already piled up on a concave coastline before Idalia makes landfall. This truly could be a devastating storm 😪

I think you know pretty darn well! It truly is “the least worst option”. As the track jogs farther west, the more traffic and need to go ahead and get out of Dodge while you still can.. If I understand correctly, we are in total agreement on all these points.

This is looking really bad. High winds start arriving about 45 minutes before high tide, so high tide waters already piling up before landfall. Idalia could truly be catastrophic. Prayers up for the Big Bend.

I always try to look on the bright side and hope for the best, but Idalia is shaping up to possibly be quite the monster.
