Been OD'ing on Cranky Burgers, have we?

What is it with you guys, can't resist saying something bad about people rather than addressing the post.

You said you learned something about O'Neill and Koppell, but did you get the specifics it takes to win a debate (at the watercooler)? Opinions don't count, impressions aren't very helpful, three of four soundbites don't carry far.

I'm sorry, Koppel still has his hairpiece and SEG and there were no Dims converted today to the "right side". A guy with a hairpiece should be easy to scalp, and I know O'Neill was the man to do it. But what you guys said about last night won't get the Dims to see much further than their own prejudices.

    watercooler is tired too

    Again, ignoring the post.

But now an attack on the watercooler!! This is starting to sound like dim trolls, dim trolls, dim droll trolls. Attack messengers, attack their water cooler. It'll probably be what I'm driving next.

And all these attacks without ever seeing any of "us". I suppose that is why attack posts are so easy to do.

You're tired, capocchio. Get some rest. Come back in the morning

This response too is so typical of many posters on FR: all opinion and no facts. It is morning, I just got up (East coast time), am not tired, and you attack the postee instead of the post.

I must conclude, since you did not address my point, that you agree with me: watsonfellow was correct in asking for "the facts, just the facts", a la Joe Friday. There is precious little on this thread that will be of any use around the watercooler today.

for those of us unable to watch can you please post comments that Koppel and O'Neill made instead of just another "he kicked his butt" post......

You might as well try to p*** up a rope as hope to get anyone on this forum to decently report a breaking story. Always has been, always will be.

This FR is just a chat room, with the occasional postings of actual news stories or specialized information from knowledgeable sources (military weapons, letters from the front, personal experiences, and the like).

  • Mystery Surrounds Kerry's Navy Discharge

The article said But when a dishonorable discharge is issued, all pay benefits, and allowances, and all medals and honors are revoked as well. And five months after Mr. Kerry joined the U.S.Senate in 1985, on one single day, June 4, all of Mr. Kerry's medals were reissued.

Then you said: This is the most revealing paragraph in the article. It explains why the medal certificates were re-issued.

I agree 100%. It explains a lot, finally drawing together a number of loose ends that have been bothering me. I've felt that the Swifties had something really shattering on Kerry and were stringing out their ads before releasing it.

This is why the title of the Swift Boat vets book is so revealing, and must be giving Kerry nightmares waiting for their last shoe to drop.

For me, and I've been saying this for some time, the last shoe is a copy of some document that says this - either a dishonorable discharge, or explaining why the medals had to be reissued, or maybe even using the official language of "unfit for command". Said document was probably authored by one of the swifties.

When they do place said document before the American public, I think it would be only fitting if they were to fax copies of it to the media houses - from a Kinko's in Abilene, Texas.

Cheney will be at the Claremont County Airport (east of Cincinnati) Monday afternoon.

Tickets are still available, but you have only until 6 PM today to get them.

So hot foot your sweet cheeks out to 197 Main St. in Batavia, Ohio to get them. If we get over 4000 people there, I think I understood them to say it will set a record for a VP rally - at least in Ohio, maybe even the US.

Kerry did not receive an honorable discharge

As I have posted several times, I think these revelations are where the Swift Boat Vets are headed.

More specifically, I think they have a document that says Kerry WAS UNFIT FOR COMMAND and will show it in one of their ads during the month of October. I think this is the reason for the title of their book.

If the Swifties wanted to push the envelope of humor, they could fax the document to the media from a Kindo's in Abilene.

offer my brief thoughts on what Kerry will do tonight, and invite yours.

Kerry has several times said he carefully laid out a "seven (?) step plan for Iraq" and that we are in trouble because Bush did not follow them.

I would like Bush to ask him to 'splain those "seven steps". I have yet to see anywhere that they have actually been spelled out.

I think when he has to do this, his whole train of logic and presentation will fall apart. I don't believe he has a coherent plan, and what ever he does list will be so obviously a combination of screwyness and inconsistency, he'll be (are you ready for this?) flushing himself down the John.

Regarding Nicaragua, he opposed funding for the anti-Communist Contras and — as in the early 1970s, when he met in Paris with representatives of Ho Chi Minh — he went south of the border to meet with Nicaragua's Communist dictator, Daniel Ortega

Kerry's penchant for talking to the enemy, and further doing so outside normal diplomatic channels is, as BJ would say, "chilling".

One imagines that if the public does not go along with him on what he wants, he'll be outside cutting his own personal deals with tyrants. And screwing our troops and the country in the process.

Also interesting that's it's always our country that ends up on the short end of the flip flop shaft from Kerry, it's "I was against Daniel Ortega before I voted for him", or "I was against Ho Chi Minh before I voted for him".

At heart, Kerry has always voted for our enemies and his votes were always, in his preferred, final version, against the US and our soldiers.

    claim your fame

Yeah, but unfortunately it would be but a fleeting one.

At one time it seemed that FR would have on the page in a poster's "personal" file of posts the number of "hits" they had on a given thread. This was not the number of total posts, but the number of people I guess reading that thread.

The number was disappointingly small, maybe 10-20 times the number of posts. So it would seem most posts have, say, 100-1000 readers. Total viewership I'm sure is much larger, but given the multiple threads and subjects, the 24 hour cycle, and the quickness with which threads disappear, the chances of any given post being read by very many people is pretty small.

By the way, I like your screen name. If my kids were still at home and they were making the choice for me, that's what they would have picked!

They are holding back something big about Kerry

I think "it" is a military document about Kerry that has their book title in it. One of the swift vets probably authored the document and has a copy.

This is why O'Neill has that sly grin on his face when he challenges Kerry's lawyers to sue him. Or tells Kerry to sign the Form 180 and release all the records.

That is why Kerry & Crew are looking so sick of late, they knows what is coming.

The security was awesome to behold. There were three special operators on the top of the VOA building tower that appeared to have .50 caliber Barrets and some big (gyro stabilized?) binoculars taking in the view

You're right, those guys looked very serious. I was too far away to make out the weapons, but the binocs did seem 2 ft. long. After Bush left, they packed up and each one had a large, maybe 4 ft. long duffle bag with their "toys". I was behind too many people to see the SUV you mentioned.

There seemed to be some helos circling, and even one cop on a horse over by some of the stores maybe 1/4 mile away.

He would have to be watched very carefully if we ever decide to put him back in the LOYAL opposition category

I agree. Back in 2000 I did a partial analysis of Liebeman's voting record. Although he took some noted seemingly conservative stands and made suitable pronouncements, he rarely voted those beliefs unless it was going to make no difference.

In other words, he voted conservative if that was going to win big or lose big, but voted liberal if it was going to be close.

one angle showing the left side of the podium

I was there too, just off the left side of this photo and about 2/3 way up - we were behind that sign so could not see Bush except on TV screen, which was further off to left, sort of behind him.

It was not that much more crowd to right, as the media stands were there and that was the path he walked in on. About 20-30 ft. to right was the road with the helicopters on the other side. Bush came in on a bus, then left on a chopper about 20 minutes after his speech, which was maybe 45-50 minutes long. He circled the field and everyone just roared! Another Presidential chopper left after Bush had circled, then the two Marine bigger choppers (sort of like the new version of the old "banana boats".

To the left was maybe 1/3 circle more of people with the VIP stands then lots of people on the ground. The area alloted, in front of the half circle of tractor trailers and contained by temporary fences, was however packed with people.

My guess would be this photo shows 40-50% of the crowd. They said on the PA when we came in that there were going to be 50,000, and that that was the largest political rally ever in Ohio.

As most of his speeches (this is the third I've been to live), he pretty much covers the territory. From health care, to jobs, to regulations, to trial lawyers, to education, to tax cuts, to small businesses, to Iraq. I would have liked to hear more "Kerry jokes", but the one (mentioned above) about Kerry being able to debate himself for 90 minutes was the best.

He also really scolded Kerry for criticizing Allawi, that this was no way to build a coalition. He said it would make it hard for Kerry to work with Allawi, but not to worry since he, Bush, was going to win. He was very relaxed, comfortable, seemingly not preoccupied at all by the upcoming debates.

There were not a lot of protesters, not overly vocal, and they were only on the roads coming in. I saw maybe 4-5 groups, rather puny signs (not Freeper quality, size or imagination), maybe 25-30 people total.

Lots of families out, very young to very old. However, I saw only at most 10 or so Blacks total. The crowd was mostly Westchester, Butler county (John Boehner territory, who introduced Bush), with some of us from Hamilton County (as in Cincinnati). The site was maybe 25 miles north of greater downtown Cincy.

Nobody I know has gone on record questioning his patriotism except me

Well, Ollie North sort of did on Hannity's radio show several days ago, and I posted a comment to a Zell Miller thread on Sept 4 (#27).

I also sent faxes to Wash. Times, NRO, WSj, RNC, and Bush at the same time. After the Hannity show I also sent North a copy.

The gist of these is that any citizen can question Kerry's patriotism, whether they have served or not. He wants to be my President, so I have a right to know whether he will cut and run when the going gets tough. This is what he did on Vietnam, much to the detriment of our troops. And his actions later led to the "Killing Fields" and other Communist atrocities in SE Asia.

So you're darn tootin we have a right to question his patriotism.

Patriotism is love of country, and I have yet to see evidence that Kerry loves anything but himself.

The real reason John Kerry lost his voice

OK everyone, let's start a pool on what the REAL reasons are for Kerry's stopping his campaign trip, and for Carville's glum contenance (doleful, to borrow from Man of La Mancha) on the O'Reilly program. Prizes to be awarded for most outlandish reason, and for the accurate one.

    I have two guesses:

#1, Outlandish category, Teresa is filing for a divorce

#2, Accuracy category, they've discoverd who the Rathergate memo forger is and it is a college student in the Kerry campaign, who did it as a prank (actually, someone has already suggested this as the forger back in the early days). The prank got out of hand.

(Truth in Posting Rule: I just posted this on another thread, this seemed a better venue).
