They moved my sister to the ICU unit at Ocala Regional Medical Center yesterday and she is scheduled for surgery today to drain the excessive adominal fluid. The surgery was originally scheduled for yesterday, but she's now developed a URI too. She is very, very sick and so weak. Any prayers that can mustered up for her would be more than appreciated. Her name is Marilyn and she's 51 years old. She has a rare spinal cord abscess. Usually, surgery is performed to lance the abscess. But she's not a canidate for surgery because, as a health care professional, she...

My baby sister, Marilyn, has been hospitalized for the past week and a half. So far she has been diagnosed with sepsis, Hepatitis C which has caused liver damage and a kidney disorder. Today they did a MRI and discovered she also has a Spinal Cord Abscess: A disorder characterized by inflammation and a collection of infected material (pus) around the spinal cord. A spinal cord abscess is caused when infection occurs within the internal areas of the spine. An abscess of the spinal cord itself is very, very rare. Urgent surgical decompression (by laminectomy, cutting through the bones of...

Does anyone have any legal experience that could help me in this matter: I live in Florida. About one month ago my neighbor’s two Yellow Black Mouth Curs escaped from his property…crossed a busy road and entered my property, despite the fact that my gate was closed and chained. The Yellow Black Mouth Cur is an unquestionably muscular, sturdy, rugged Southern dog. They have been bred for generations for special purposes from herding cows and wild hogs to treeing raccoons and squirrels. With medium-sized game, the Yellow Black Mouth catches and kills it with no questions asked. This dog never...

Many of them told their stories. Some filled out witness statements provided by the newspaper. In this first of a series of articles about the witnesses, here is what some of those eyewitnesses told The Wave: James P. Conrad Brooklyn Conrad was on Rockaway Point Boulevard at the Fort Tilden traffic light. His attention...

After an intensive investigation of the fuselage and tail of the Airbus A300 that crashed in Belle Harbor in November of 2001, no evidence has been found that the crash was anything but an accident involving the tail section of the aircraft, according to Marion Blakely, the Chairperson for the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). "There was no evidence of engine failure, no contact with birds, no fire and no bomb," Blakely told reporters at a press conference held at a NASA facility in Hampton, Virginia. Blakely said that the NTSB is now looking at two possibilities: Either the tail...

The Government Nanny bill is back! S.B. 1844 creates a new big government program called "Learning Gateway," which will "provide systematic hospital visits or home visits by trained staff to new mothers." If this bill becomes law, it will lay the foundation for transforming Florida into a "government nanny state" by greatly increasing the power of the government over children and reducing parents' rights.Status: S.B. 1844 has passed both the house and the senate and is now awaiting the Governor's signature or veto. click on "source" for entire story...

The discovery of a firefighter's boot touched off a painstaking, day-long dig at Ground Zero yesterday that led to the recovery of 15 bodies #151; 13 of them firefighters. It was the biggest single-day body find in months #151; and it gave grieving families hope that more bodies will be found. When Port Authority cops digging at Ground Zero spotted the boot early in the morning, the heavy excavation machines were quickly shut down. About 8:30 a.m., a contingent of firefighters moved in to search. Using small shovels, they tore at the debris and carefully removed the first bodies. Among...

"The Brotherhood of September 11" will be a World Premiere Special airing Wednesday, March 6 at 10 p.m.- At a firehouse in the South Bronx, a simple plexiglass board lists the names of eight men: Hickey, Meisenheimer, Blackwell, Regan, Spor, Gambino, Foley and Schrang. Dated Tuesday, September 11, this roster serves as a simple, mute memorial to the eight members of Rescue 3 who responded to the worst disaster in New York City history and never returned. It is a picture all too common throughout the FDNY. The Discovery Channel will invite viewers to meet the surviving members of Rescue ...

CBS will air a two-hour special next month featuring exclusive video shot inside the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 as rescue workers charged in and occupants escaped. The material, caught on tape by French filmmakers Gedeon and Jules Naudet, is believed to be the only such video available from inside the complex after the planes slammed into it. It will air on Sunday, March 10, at 9 p.m, the night before the six-month anniversary of the terrorist attack. ``It's something that's very vivid, very moving and very heroic,'' said CBS President Leslie Moonves. ``I thought it was very important ...

New Yorkers who believe they saw American Airlines Flight 587 explode in flames before its tail sheared off have accused crash investigators of ignoring their eyewitness accounts and prematurely ruling out a terrorist attack. Six witnesses, including a recently retired police lieutenant, an FDNY deputy chief and a former firefighter, have written to the National Transportation Safety Board demanding they be called to testify at a public hearing. Tom Lynch, 59, a retired firefighter, said he had also spoken to 18 other people who saw the Airbus A300 flying on fire before it crashed into houses in Belle Harbor, ...

It was 2 a.m. on Dec. 29, 1997, when the Coast Guard station in Charleston, S.C., received urgent calls on a VHF radio. But there was static and no way of knowing the location of the distress. After daybreak, a 34-foot sailboat, Morning Dew, was found wrecked on a jetty at the entrance to Charleston's harbor. Three teen-age boys were floating in the water, dead. The body of the boat's captain, the father of two of the boys, washed up three weeks later. A National Transportation Safety Board investigation placed part of the blame on the Coast Guard's outdated radios, ...

A lot has changed since George W. Bush became president-executive orders that support a "culture of life," judicial appointees who respect the constitution and members of the Cabinet who are unapologetic about their Christian faith. But perhaps nothing more clearly represents the new leadership we enjoy as a country than that place Mr. Bush now calls his temporary home-1600 Pennsylvania Ave. The president is quick to point out that it is not his house but the American people's house. And, as such, he treats it and the people who work there with respect. From the Secret Service to the grounds ...

A modern dance troupe, the Brooklyn Philharmonic and AIDS-awareness groups are among more than 40 arts and service organizations — many located outside lower Manhattan — receiving Sept. 11 charity. The September 11th Fund, established by the United Way of New York City and the New York Community Trust, has set aside nearly $6.5 million for interest-free loans and grants to nonprofit groups. The aid represents a fraction of the $337 million collected but nonetheless raises questions about who should be considered a World Trade Center victim and what donors should expect when they open their wallets. The American Red ...
