Thank you for asking that question, Gwen. Abortion is an issue I care deeply about. First, let me thank Kindercare for providing this forum tonight, and the Hefty Trash Bag Company for their sponsorship of this debate. I'd also like to greet my opponent and thank him for the excellent talking points he distributed this afternoon, which I intend to paraphrase tonight. As for abortion, I am completely, adamantly, unequivocally, and irrevocably opposed to abortion -- except to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Make no mistake about this: I'm opposed to ALL abortions -- except those that involve unwanted children.

DAFFY DICK Does he secretly sport a turban? Does he overindulge in bourbon? If the man's not insane, How are we to explain The intemperate remarks of Durbin?

What's with all the right-wing savants -- Rush Limbaugh, Cal Thomas, et al. -- warning us that Arnold Schwarzenegger is no Ronald Reagan? Do we look stupid? We needed someone to tell us this? Are we likely to confuse the Terminator with the Gipper? Who said Arnie was the next Ronnie, anyway? I didn't. Did you? Have you heard anyone say that? Arnie's no Reagan, Arnie's no George Washington, Arnie's no Julius Caesar or Cleopatra. Gee, what an insight! Is that how a pundit gets rich and famous, by stating the bloody obvious? What Arnold represents is a well-deserved comeuppance...

The image merges the likenesses of New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. . . .

The first round of the contest ends today/tommorrow: Monday, March 31st! The top 25 ads will then compete in a second, and final, round of balloting.

FREEDOM IS MORE THAN A SLOGAN Your children will learn in school all the things that are allegedly wrong with our country; you can be sure of that. It's up to you, however, to teach them all the things that are right. Tell your children the story of our war for independence. Recite "Paul Revere's Ride" for them. Teach them the words to "The Star- Spangled Banner," to "America the Beautiful," and to "God Bless America." Read our Declaration out loud and discuss with them the "self-evident" truths that are catalogued there, along with the list of grievances against the...

"I have been a pro-choice believer my entire life until someone shared your web-site with me. I was first shocked then sickened by what I saw. God, how could I have been so misguided my entire life? I actually believed it was not a baby. I actually believed a first trimester abortion was fine. Boy did you open my eyes. I believe that God worked with me today to show me the right way. I have often wondered if I was wrong but always dismissed those thoughts until I saw these photographs." I have always been convinced that showing people...

Say no to global governance by signing the Pledge of Allegiance Petition , calling on President Bush to add the words "sovereign and independent" to the Pledge. New Pledge would read as follows: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, sovereign and independent, with liberty and justice for all.

The electoral college is one of only a few things still standing between us and mob rule. In the aftermath of the Presidential election, the lesson from lightweights is that every vote really does count. The unstated assumption -- unstated because it seems so obvious to the profoundly superficial -- is that every citizen has an obligation to vote, and the higher the turnout the better. But does every citizen really have such an obligation? Can there not be compelling reasons for a qualified voter to abstain from casting his ballot? Are there not voters who, though technically qualified under ...

In case you're called upon to "justify" the electoral college, here are some simple analogies that may prove useful. The uproar over George W. Bush's "razor-thin" majority in the Florida balloting for President has documented several serious deficiencies in our body politic, among them: the American people's rampant confusion as to the proper role of the federal government, the eagerness of Democratic candidates to do anything to win office, and the near-total ignorance of most liberals and many conservatives with regard to our Constitution and the electoral college it established. For most Americans, universal suffrage and the principle of "one ...

In the wake of the Carnahan victory, I predict that in the next election we'll see the more ambitious Democratic candidates committing suicide in order to improve their chances.
