Three things are certain: antisemitism is on the rise; hatred of Muslims is increasing; and everyone – but especially those at universities with time to reflect – should be very, very troubled by this. Without taking account of the hate waves, it is impossible to understand why the seemingly mundane act of pitching a tent on campus has become so high stakes: is it announcing a desire to annihilate Israel, or is it a perfectly legitimate way to protest against particular US (and university) policies

An Iranian warship has embarked on a mission in oceanic waters, Iran’s state media reported, in the wake of a warning by Houthi rebels that they could renew their attacks on vessels transiting the region. We just can’t stop the constant parade of controversy, can we? San Francisco’s mayor London Breed Thursday announced her making an appointment for the position of Executive Director of the “Office of Transgender Initiatives.” Head-scratching aside, Breed finds this specific appointment to be of such importance, now, she had to put out a press release and gloat on social media. Clearly, this must be an election year.

Across the world people have been shocked by social media footage of heavily armed law enforcement officers arresting peacefully protesting students and professors at university campuses around the United States. The so-called “land of the free and home of the brave” looks neither free nor brave – except for the brave protesters who continue to stand up to state and university repression.

Law enforcement was noticeably absent when violence erupted on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles late Tuesday night between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators. Dozens of counter-protestors, many wearing white masks and flags over their shoulders, arrived around 10:45 p.m. and attempted to dismantle the pro-Palestinian encampment that has overtaken Royce Quad since last Thursday. The agitators lobbed fireworks at the encampment and set off what may have been bear or pepper spray.

A California lawmaker has unveiled plans for a 'Genealogy Office' to decide which residents are genuine descendants of slaves and could get life-changing benefits payouts. Steven Bradford, a Democratic state Senator for LA County, proposed bill SB 1403 to create a controversial genealogy unit to 'confirm reparations eligibility' of applicants. The state's first-in-the-nation reparations task force last year decided that some residents should win $1.2 million payouts as compensation for injustices from the slavery era onwards

As the Republicans were swayed by Hitler and his propaganda to keep America out of World War II for as long as possible so has Trump and his allies in Congress. They use Putin talking points in keeping military aid from reaching the Ukraine. By preventing approval of ammunition and weaponry to this democratically elected government as it suffers continued bombardment by Russia we are not only guaranteeing the massive murder and torture of innocent civilians but also inviting Russia, Iran and North Korea to invade other free nations. The isolationist movement in the 1930s by America and Great Britain...
