The results are in and the unofficial, unscientific 7-Election Presidential Coffee Cup Poll proved just as accurate as many scientific ones with candidates George W. Bush and John F. Kerry in a statistical tie heading into Election Day. Final 2004 7-Election cup counts tracked within a few percentage points of actual poll results in many states, including key swing states. Casting their "votes" in participating 7-Eleven stores across the country during the month-long promotion in October, customers served up these results. 7-11: Bush: 51.08% Kerry: 48.92% Zogby: Bush: 48%, Kerry: 47% ABC/WP*-:Bush 49, Kerry 48, Nader 1 ARG: Kerry 48,...

As the nation’s largest convenience retailer and an American icon, 7-Eleven’s goal is to get out the vote ... first in our stores this month in the second quadrennial 7-Election™ Presidential Coffee Cup Poll, but most importantly, in the real election Nov. 2nd. Although billed as unabashedly unscientific and unofficial, we were surprised at just how accurate the 7-Election poll proved in the 2000 election. So pour up your favorite 7-Eleven hot beverage in a special 20-ounce Bush, Kerry or Third Party/No Opinion cups as a daily reminder to take part in the political process. Check back here to see...

October 26, 2004 Bush Up in New Poll Gallup? Pew Research? Zogby? Well yes, but in addition to those polls ... 7-Eleven did an unscientific poll in 2000, which was uncannily accurate. The poll gives 7-Eleven customers the choice of a Bush, Kerry or undecided cup when purchasing a fountain soft drink. Poll results are based on the number of cups sold for each candidate. Although unscientific, the poll samples millions and millions of Americans from all walks of life across the nation, including those whose primary phone is a cell phone. This year the vote is: Bush: 51.17 %...

  • How is Bush doing in your state?

I live in the most liberal part of Norfolk, Virginia and he is actually not doing so bad here. Kerry probably wins Norfolk 60/40 (which is not so bad considering the high black population). I work in Virginia Beach and it is the opposite. I am a 7-Eleven field consultant and we cannot keep Bush coffee cups in stock and I won't let my stores put out only Kerry cups. My parents live in Newport News and the Bush signs and bumper stickers outnumber the Kerry stuff by my guess of 9-1. For those who tell you it is close...
