Lawyers for a Wisconsin inmate featured in the "Making a Murderer" series on Netflix asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday to review a federal appeals court decision that held his confession was voluntary. Brendan Dassey's legal team told the high court in their petition that the case raises crucial issues that extend far beyond Dassey's case alone and that long have divided state and federal courts.

Avery and Dassey, who was 16 at the time, were sentenced to life in prison.

Will convicted killer Brendan Dassey go free? Not if the Wisconsin Attorney General’s Office wins their appeal against his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. On Wednesday, they filed their opening brief in Dassey v. Dittman in a bid to keep him locked up.A federal judge overturned Dassey’s conviction in August, saying that his videotaped confession to the 2005 murder of photojournalist Teresa Halbach was “involuntary” under the Fifth and Fourteen Amendments. But the AG is now requesting an oral argument, and a chance to prove that police did everything legit. They maintain that he fessed up to his...

Steven Avery has accused his own brother, Earl Avery, of murdering Teresa Halbach, during an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood this week, his brother said. During one of Earl Avery’s first on-camera interviews he said while he hasn’t seen Steven in more than a decade, he talked with him via telephone for the first time in eight years, last week. During that call Steven allegedly told Earl his new lawyers told him to say Earl killed Teresa Halbach, Earl says. Earl also said that he believes Steven Avery may be granted a new trial in Wausau. “Everybody in Manitowoc County...
