LONDON (Reuters) - BP will cut about 15% of its workforce in response to the coronavirus crisis and as part of Chief Executive Bernard Looney’s plan to shift the oil and gas major to renewable energy, it said on Monday. Looney told employees in a global online call that the London-based company will cut 10,000 jobs from the current 70,100. “We will now begin a process that will see close to 10,000 people leaving BP – most by the end of this year,” Looney said in a statement. In the movie “Cliff Hanger,” John Lithgow’s character, Qualen, utters a line that reminds me of how unscrupulous Democrat muckety-mucks like the Clintons and Obama operate. Qualen says, “Kill a few people, they call you a murderer. Kill a million and you’re a conqueror.” Similarly, with the Clintons and Obama, commit a few crimes, they call you a petty criminal. Commit a million and you’re untouchable. Well, maybe not a million—then again. You get the point. We’re now seeing a cascade of unearthed evidence of what seems to be an apparent three-plus-year coup attempt by the Obama administration and media...

... [E]ven the brainiest sometimes need a lesson in common sense. That’s exactly what the bursar at St. John’s College—the most richly endowed college at Oxford—delivered when he responded to students occupying his 15th-century quadrangle and refusing to leave until the college divested its oil-company shares. The students want the college to sell the more than $10 million of its endowment now invested in Shell and BP, and they want it now. The Times of London reports that bursar Andrew Parker made them a counteroffer. “I am not able to arrange any divestment at short notice,” he wrote. “But I...

One of the Mexican gunmen who killed a U.S. Border Patrol agent, consequently sparking the Obama administration’s “Fast and Furious” scandal, was sentenced to life in prison. U.S. District Judge David C. Bury on Wednesday sentenced Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes to life in federal prison for first-degree murder. The sentencing follows Osorio-Arellanes’s involvement in a 2010 border shootout between Mexican gunmen and U.S. officials, resulting in the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry... Osorio-Arellanes fled the scene and evaded justice for many years. However, Mexican authorities arrested him in 2017 in Chihuahua. He was extradited to the U.S. in 2018 and...

The outgoing boss of BP has revealed some of his daughter's friends in California are on antidepressants because of their worries over climate change. Bob Dudley, who is to step down as chief executive in February, admitted he hated seeing 'young people so unhappy, so anxious' about the impact of global warming from increasing carbon emissions. **SNIP** Mr Dudley added that he hated seeing young people so anxious, and that his daughter told him people around her are on antidepressants. Despite investing green energies, such as biofuels and solar power, BP has been criticised for putting only 3 percent of...

EXCLUSIVE – The cartel member suspected of shooting and killing Border Patrol agent Brian Terry in 2010 with a gun supplied by the U.S. government was arrested in Mexico Wednesday, senior law enforcement, Border Patrol, and congressional sources told Fox News. The suspect, Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes, was apprehended by a joint U.S.-Mexico law enforcement task force that included the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Marshals and the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC). A $250,000 reward had been sought for information leading to the arrest of Osorio-Arellanes, who was captured at a ranch on the border of the Mexican states of Sinaloa and...

Tucked inside a narrow wedge of a traditional open-air market is one of Mexico’s most dangerous black market operations. It’s known as the Tepito. It’s a barrio where even the police mostly remain outside. Inside, it’s under the tightly controlled thumb of the Union de Tepito, otherwise known as the Union Cartel – one of the capital city’s most violent and well-financed criminal players. ... And, the ATF itself became a contentious piece of that puzzle between 2009 and 2011 in what became known as “Operation Fast and Furious,” when the ATF’s Phoenix Field Division allowed illegal gun sales in...

Well, well, well…it was all one massive lie, wasn’t it? Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) reportedly threw a tantrum at Border Patrol agents while visiting a facility in El Paso. She said the agents didn’t make her safe, whatever the hell that means, and that they were telling detained illegals to drink from the toilet. Yeah, that claim was blown up in about 30 seconds. The drinking fountains are connected to the toilets. Democrats lie. AOC lied. And they will do anything to try and stoke anger among Hispanic voters toward this White House; Trump’s support among Hispanics is not too shabby, by the...

Mark Morgan, former Border Patrol chief under President Obama, said Monday he supports an idea floated by President Donald Trump to send immigrants from the border to sanctuary cities. “Congress has failed to do their job. Make no mistake, they could have prevented this (border crisis) and they failed to do so and then every time this current administration tries to come up with an option, they shoot it down. Well, I haven't heard any options from them,” Morgan said on “America’s Newsroom” Monday. “I've been there. The border patrol, ICE, their facilities are overwhelmed, the faith-based organizations and other...

A California man has been charged with taking illegal kickbacks to act as a plaintiff in dozens of corporate class-action lawsuits filed by Milberg Weiss, a move that brings a three-year federal probe to the door of one of the leading U.S. securities law firms. The indictment handed down by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles on Thursday comes as prosecutors try to make a case that Milberg Weiss improperly paid plaintiffs to file lawsuits against publicly traded companies. A spokeswoman for the law firm said on Friday that Milberg Weiss had been subpoenaed in connection with the investigation...

U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped 12 smuggling operations and seized nearly two tons of marijuana worth over $1.5 million during a weekend crackdown, officials with Customs and Border Patrol wrote in a press release Monday. On Friday, agents working near Mission, Texas, saw "smugglers utilize a raft filled with bundles of marijuana cross the Rio Grande," officials wrote. On the Texas side of the river, they loaded up a Ford F-150 pick up truck with the pot. "As mobile units responded to the area, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed," officials wrote. When agents stopped the truck,...

Failed political consultant Liz Mair is crowd funding a political attack on billionaire presidential candidate Donald Trump and she’s getting noticed. But Mair’s past work as a paid shill of a Muslim dictatorship that jails journalists and activists should make us wonder about her motives, especially as the Middle East once more descends into chaos. Mair was paid $15,000 a month by Ilham Aliyev, the dictator of Azerbaijan, according to documents filed in accordance with the Foreign Registration Act (FARA).

As Guy wrote, fired Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe raked in more than $500,000 from leftist sympathizers this week after setting up a legal fund and blasting President Trump. As a reminder, McCabe was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions after the FBI Office of Professional Responsibility and the DOJ Inspector General recommended he be terminated for a lack of candor. But it turns out, McCabe's pay day wasn't a result of a grassroots effort to defend him against false attacks. The GoFundMe page was set up by a Washington, D.C. lobbying firm connected to President Barack Obama. From Law...

My wife takes my BP manually, but I want to start taking multiple readings in a day. I once had the "best", most expensive unit (or two) that Walgreens sold, but the readings were off. Even in my doctor's office, they've taken my BP electronically then immediately taken it manually, and the readings have been off as much as 20 points on systolic pressure. But I'm thinking that with frequent calibration with my wife's manual readings that we can extrapolate useful info? Can you recommend a good unit?

Florida Congressman Carlos Curbelo is getting ready to introduce a bill repealing the gas tax in exchange for a carbon tax. It seems rather odd the Miami Republican wants to chart this path, especially after the House GOP overwhelmingly denounced the notion of a carbon tax last week, but Curbelo isn’t backing down from his proposal. He told Miami Herald his proposal is just a “first step” in the discussion. When you ask this question in a vacuum, is any tax detrimental to economic growth? It’s usually going to be yes…But when you put it in context and you...

As a growing number of Democrats and their allies call for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), it’s important to remember that the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants arrested by the agency have criminal convictions.
