U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped 12 smuggling operations and seized nearly two tons of marijuana worth over $1.5 million during a weekend crackdown, officials with Customs and Border Patrol wrote in a press release Monday. On Friday, agents working near Mission, Texas, saw "smugglers utilize a raft filled with bundles of marijuana cross the Rio Grande," officials wrote. On the Texas side of the river, they loaded up a Ford F-150 pick up truck with the pot. "As mobile units responded to the area, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed," officials wrote. When agents stopped the truck, the driver abandoned the drugs and returned to the river to flee to Mexico. Agents found 945 pounds of pot worth about $756,000. That same day, agents near Roma, Texas, saw several people carrying bundles of drugs north of the Rio Grande. Agents intervened and the smugglers fled back to Mexico, officials say. During this bust, agents seized 160 pounds of marijuana worth about $130,000.

Sell the pot to Colorado. Wall money.
“Sell the pot to Colorado. Wall money.”
Sorry, it’s crap.
I suppose there is a market for mexican garbage weed, but not in free states.
Mexican dirtweed is worth $50/oz? Really?
Whoa, some folks will buy anything! < BG >
Whoa, some folks will buy anything!
LOL! Even if it were, $1.5 million is a drop in the bucket of thw $10 Billion pot market (drug czar figure).
First thing I wondered was which way the weed was going.
Lol.
Why on earth would they waste resources on stopping Mexican (worthless) marijuana.
BTW the dollar figure is a lie.
Mexican dirt ain’t worth a dime.
These are locals hauling to a “stash” house until they get an 18-wheeler load. They smuggle drugs the same way as illegals.
Has the cartel not gotten the memo? There’s no profit incentive left for the cartel now that it’s legal to grow and sell up north. Boo hoo for them.
Which is why they’re increasing their heroin pushing, and now, fentanyl. One of the “unintended consequences” of legalization of marijuana. Did anyone think they were just going to give up, once there pot sales started tanking?
Yep. And it’s not as if the government is going to do anything about it. They’re pulling out all the stops, to get old sick pain patients’ prescription meds away from them. Now THERE’S a drug war they can win! Even the President’s on board! (Don’t get me started).
The cartels can't create demand through force of will.
Use this money to fund the wall - that way Mexico will pay for it.
They sure can by giving out a few freebies, though. Time honored manner, if you can call it that.
Yawn! Wake me up when they deport 1.5 million illegal aliens.
“...Use this money to fund the wall...”
-
There is no ‘money’, just a pile of dried leaves.
And the theory is that they couldn't do that, or not as much, before pot was legalized?
I wonder how the “garbage weed” compares to what we smoked in the 70s...I doubt I would recognize the effects as being from the pot I knew when I indulged.
