Ex-Obama Border Patrol chief supports idea of sending migrant detainees to sanctuary cities

Mark Morgan, former Border Patrol chief under President Obama, said Monday he supports an idea floated by President Donald Trump to send immigrants from the border to sanctuary cities.

“Congress has failed to do their job. Make no mistake, they could have prevented this (border crisis) and they failed to do so and then every time this current administration tries to come up with an option, they shoot it down. Well, I haven't heard any options from them,” Morgan said on “America’s Newsroom” Monday. “I've been there. The border patrol, ICE, their facilities are overwhelmed, the faith-based organizations and other non-governmental organizations are overwhelmed. They have no choice. They’re going to have to start pushing these individuals out. Shouldn't we kind of share the burden throughout the country?”

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed to "Fox News Sunday" that President Trump's prospective plan to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities is undergoing a "complete and thorough review," days after Democrats, who have fought to protect illegal immigrants from federal authorities, characterized the possible move as a dangerous stunt.

"Nobody thinks that this is the ideal solution," Sanders said Sunday. "But until we can fix the crisis at the border, we have to look at all options. This is one of them. Whether or not it moves forward -- that’s yet to be determined.”

The Democratic Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., is a critic of this option and the White House's description of what is happening at the border.

“This is again his manufactured chaos that he’s (President Trump) created over the last two years on the border,” said Thompson.

It makes sense, why burden the cities and states that enforce the laws. Let the lawless administrations deal with the illegals.

The Left thinks they can pack red states with illegals, rig the voting system that Republicans are clueless about how to control, and steal more elections. They don’t want illegals in their cities. They don’t want the expense, and they don’t need the votes. That’s why obama shipped illegals to red states.

What’s going to stop the illegals from spreading out from sanctuary areas once they’re put there? NOTHING!

Turning loose illegal immigrants anywhere in the United States is monstrous.

They will not stay in the place where lodged unless kept confined and then they will spread out over the country.

Whenever they are allowed to do that, the government is condemning some Americans to murder, rape, and destruction because some of those people are murderers, rapist, and rapacious thugs.

Turning them loose is what is being done now, even at this very moment. I’m told that’s the Democrat law.

It’s just that they should be released in places where these Democrats live instead of some innocent town in Nebraska or Minnesota.

Don't know. It's my understanding they gravitate to sanctuary cities. Why not just send them there. Presuming we're forced by the judiciary to let them stay in the US pending a court appearance or non appearance.

Besides, many large metropolitan areas are sanctuaries. If they're here, why not let them see New York, Chicago, LA and San Francisco. We're told they're not lawbreakers, so they must have adequate funds to support themselves when entering illegally. They're certainly not working here, that would be illegal. Just a different kind of tourist, let the sanctuary reap the benefits of tourism.

Nothing, though I suspect they're spreading out to other sanctuary areas. Once Oklahoma was Indian Territory. Honest, ask Liz Warren. Maybe we should make California Illegal Territory, let them live there.

They won’t have Sanctuary protection if they move out.

Not that that would stop all of them. Getting deported often means they just lose a few days work.

Deported on Tuesday, back on the job next Monday morning.

No protection from the Feds.
Fewer jobs.
Less friendly populations.
Fewer freebies.

Other than that ... nothing.
