Saturday afternoon the doorbell rings while I'm watching the Cubs game. I open the door - there stands a mid-50s man with a clipboard. He's wanting me to vote for Hillary Clinton in the upcoming Indiana primaries. No, I say - "we're Republicans here and I could never bring myself to vote for Hillary Clinton". "Won't you just vote for her in the primary then" - he asks, "and then vote for McCain in the fall." No, I say - "If I was going to vote for a Democrat, it'd have to be Obama because of my absolute disdain for...

The Democrat Meltdown continues apace. Yes, thanx to Operation Chaos, the Democrats are performing their Meltdown Comedy Theater for our entertainment pleasure. I'm sure their Meltdown will only intensify after the Pennsylvania primary tomorrow. You can get an idea of just how intense the current Meltdown is by the very title of this DUmmie THREAD, "Why are so many Obama supporters so angry .. so provocative .. and yes, so bitter, if Obama has the nomination locked up?" Why? I'll tell you why. Because instead of relaxing and preparing for the general election like almost all nominees do at...

Former New York Times reporter Chris Hedges (author of American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America) has a thought-provoking Op Ed in today's Philadelphia Inquirer. He's fed up with the left for having sold out to "respectability" and to corporatism. And, in a charming echo of such conservative luminaries as Dobson, Coulter, and Buchanan, he's urging principled leftists to walk away from whoever the Democratic Party candidate is and support third party candidates: The failure of the American left is a failure of nerve. It has been neutralized and rendered ineffectual as a political force because of...

As my good friends know, I lost a daughter to the ravages of alcoholism and a life ruined in her childhood by a child molester. I spent much of my life trying to help, but basically watching helplessly as she suffered and moved from crisis to crisis. As I said at her funeral, a child molester is worse than a murderer; at least when you kill someone they are dead and can’t suffer anymore, and their families have a chance to mourn and then get on with their lives. My child was not molested by a priest, but, because of...

Chef Ramsey cusses on in "Hell's Kitchen" as the contenders continue messing up. The girl's team finally wins one and a fellow who tried desperately to quit finally is fired by Chef Ramsey. While over at Bravo TV the Top Chef Chicago hosts a Chicago Bears' tailgate party. The would-be Top Chefs prepare tailgate meals that, in some cases, make no sense. With a visit from the original Chicago Bear and Refrigerator Perry. All with pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

Ben Stein was just on Fox News with Geraldo. He was asked If ID versus Evolution was a "left, right thing". He responded,"No, It's an atheist versus a non-believer thing". Stein inadvertantly admitted that ID is a religious argument, not science!

All you pundits and pollsters can relax. The political future of Barack Obama has already been determined with 100% certainty. I was given insight into what it is this past Thursday when I called my friend, Ken Norton, in Georgia on the cellphone. I knew I could trust Ken's prediction since he is completely apolitical and has no axe to grind. In fact, I don't think he has ever voted in any election. "Hey Ken, who is going to win the election for President this November?" With a note of complete authority in his voice, Ken unhesitatingly replied, "Obama...

Lots of folks hate the AR, or they THINK they hate the AR. Of those people, probably half just don't care for the caliber, and we'll definitely address that. Another quarter just hate black plastic guns, or the design of the AR specifically (the gas system especially), which I disagree with, but I understand their aesthetic issue, and the gas system IS a pain to clean. It's the rest of the AR haters I want to talk about. They don't like the AR/M16/M4 either because they don't like the entire concept of the assault rifle, or because the assault...

“Living in Camp Hope” (John 14:1-14)Yesterday our Men’s Club held a big fundraiser for Camp Hope. Camp Hope is a place where disabled veterans can come and find a little “R & R,” rest and relaxation, or you could say, rest and recuperation, rehabilitation, and recreation. Camp Hope is a place where these men can find healing, help, and hope. Hope. These disabled veterans need hope. These men go off to war healthy and whole and vigorous, and they come back wounded--physically, to be sure, but often mentally and emotionally wounded also. Now they have the rest of their lives...

Today's Chicago Tribune carries a frontpage article titled, "Michelle Obama's mission: Show voters humble roots." Mrs. Obama's recollections of how she and her husband not so long ago were deluged with bills and calls from collection agencies have become a major component of the campaign, designed to demonstrate that Senator Barack Obama understands financial difficulties and the folks encountering them. He feels their pain. The article reports that Barack Obama "by all accounts, rose from humble beginnings and isn't that far removed from financial hardship in his own life." But who's providing all those accounts on which the Tribune relies?...

Once in a while I have to do an office clean up, and I always find a few of the odds and ends topic ideas that were ignored or ‘put aside for later’. Ones that usually were the beginnings of what became posted articles, some of which ended up focusing on a completely different issue than the original. I like to throw these leftovers together in a mix I like to call my Random Rants. Thanks in advance for helping me clean up around here…

Despite strenuous and continuing efforts to portray each other in the most negative light possible, both Democratic presidential contenders responded affirmatively to the question of the other’s electability during their recent debate in Pennsylvania. “Yes, yes she can,” was Senator Barack Obama’s assessment of Senator Hillary Clinton’s potential to defeat Republican nominee Senator John McCain. “She has the raw cunning and guile necessary to succeed with American voters. She’s proven this by surviving scandal after scandal during her husband’s political career. Ever time she’s been down, she has risen again—just as scum always rises to the surface of a pond.”...

Hillary and the Black Panthers: The Real Story By Richard Poe Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003 I can't take it anymore. If one more person sends me that e-mail about Hillary and the Black Panthers, I'll have to be dragged away screaming in a straitjacket. You know the e-mail I'm talking about. It accuses Hillary of helping the Black Panthers get away with torture and murder during the early 1970s. With the 2004 presidential race drawing near, the spam mills are creaking to life, flooding the Internet once more with this agitprop classic. Unfortunately, the e-mail mingles good information with bad,...

“Intelligent Design” is of no scientific value in determining the origins of life in the universe. A designer would have to be supernatural (i.e. not subject to the laws of physics) or natural and subject to those laws. If the designer is natural in origin, then it would have to have been designed by another designer –again supernatural or natural. Ultimately come to an original designer that either evolved from a lower state of matter, or was created by a supernatural being. You will note that this is back to where we started. Science does not deal with supernatural phenomena...

[...] The first political change came from the left. They embraced gays, knowing full well that most gays aren’t married, don’t have kids, and have consequently more income to spend and tend to do that. Hence, the strange idea that all gays are by definition left-wing oriented. Nothing could be further from the truth. Gays want to be themselves. Nothing more, nothing less. [...] Then we got a new pressure group. The ones with beards and long, very long and extremely sensitive toes. These folks quickly replaced the gays as interest group on the left. First of all, because gays...

Another area of American society where a double standard is being applied by liberal journalists and activists is in the matter of religion and the requirement that there be no government support of it. If a public school student dares to utter a Christian prayer or put up a poster mentioning Christianity, the ACLU will sue the school principal and the city involved. If public school property were mistakenly to be used to host a Christian-oriented event, there would be outrage and more lawsuits. As we also know, if the ACLU were to carry such a case to a successful...
