BOSTON (AP) - All Americans must demand their right to vote and refuse to be intimidated, former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry told a voters' group Sunday. "Last year too many people were denied their right to vote, too many who tried to vote were intimidated," the Massachusetts senator said. "There is no magic wand. No one person is going to stand up and suddenly say it's going to change tomorrow. You have to do that." Kerry supporters charged that voting irregularities in largely Democratic areas made it difficult for voters to cast ballots in the November presidential election. A...

Many argue that communism will never be possible because of "human nature". The essence of this false argument is the belief that a communist society would consist of an all-powerful central government that would tell everybody what to do--and would therefore undermine the creative initiative of individuals and the search for happiness. • This argument is based on two false assumptions: (1) It assumes that a communist society will look like the former Soviet Union, or the current China, North Korea, etc (ie: corrupt police states with a feudal-style ruling class) (2) It assumes that people will only work in...

TERRI SCHIAVO AND THE NEED FOR MANY ROY MOORES GrassTopsUSA By Don Feder When it comes to a judiciary run amok, the other two branches of government are in a persistent vegetative state. By the time you read this, Terri Schiavo may already be dead. Her fate was sealed by an adulterous mate, a homicidal judiciary and conservative politicians who could pass for eunuchs. Whenever a judge – almost any judge, anywhere – issues an edict (however bizarre or detached from reality and the law), elected officials lose bladder control when contemplating the possibility of corrective action. In...

Group demonstrates near port; Naco expecting minutemen BY MICHAEL MARESH Saturday, April 2, 2005 12:05 PM MST HERALD/REVIEW NACO, Ariz. - The border-crossing point in Naco was blocked for about 30 minutes Friday as a group in Mexico protested near the border. The demonstration came as the Minuteman Project got under way in Tombstone. The monthlong project is geared at having private citizens help watch the border and report border crossings. Roger Maier, a spokesman for the U.S. Border Patrol, said a group of 40 to 50 people at about noon Friday blocked southbound traffic at the Naco point of...

Bush Needs To Look At Self Before Making Threats Foreign Policy Reeks Of Piety Helen Thomas, Hearst White House columnist POSTED: 6:16 pm EST February 18, 2005 President George W. Bush should look into the mirror before giving orders and threatening other nations. His militant foreign policy reeks of piety and is selectively threatening to several nations. Fortunately he is still guided by the art of the possible, and that does not include Iran and North Korea at this time. Syria is another story -- weaker, more vulnerable and easier to push around. At a news conference Thursday, Bush demanded...

I think that it has been well established that "conservatives" or whatever it is they call themselves these days (e.g., storm troopers) in matters concerning politics value little more than the state's power in which they imagine themselves to participate and the supposed glory that war and domestic national securitism brings to them. Now strictly speaking this is a delusion, because their only access to power lies in the accidental agreement of their opinions with those of the managers of the state. This access will evaporate as soon as the state does something that displeases our conservatives. It is always...

It’s not very hard to twist the knickers of people working for the TSA. They operate in a zero-defect environment where they can’t really look like heroes, but they sure look like idiots if they ever drop the ball. It could be said that the TSA plays a zero max game. The best anyone there can do is not miss something. Thus, it’s no surprise that when pranksters started flashing lasers onto a couple of planes, they didn’t get the joke. The people who administer the TSA and the entire rest of the Department of Homeland Security operation have got...

MIAMI -- Miami police say they used a Taser stun gun to subdue a wheelchair-bound man who threatened them with scissors. Police say they responded to a domestic violence all at a home where the man got into an argument with his girlfriend, then threw a soda can at her 13-year-old daughter. Police say the man resisted officers and threatened them. The man's name was not released. He was taken to jail, but no charges were immediately filed. Copyright 2004 by The Associated Press. Ten years ago, with eager support from the Clinton administration, Congress enacted the so-called Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) act. That measure created a federally enforced “no-protest” zone around abortion “clinics.” Under FACE, protesters who obstruct access to abortuaries can be prosecuted for federal offenses. The same is not true of radical environmentalists, union activists, or other political protesters who commit acts of violence, vandalism, or obstruction targeting businesses other than the abortion industry. FACE is akin to a Bill of Attainder, an unconstitutional measure singling out one specific group of people for special punishment. U.S. District Judge...

Americans Owe Confederate History Respect By CHRIS EDWARDS The Time Has Come To Take A Stand After attending the Confederate Memorial Day service on June 1 in Higginsville, I found myself believing our nation should be ashamed for not giving more respect and recognition to our ancestors. I understand that some find the Confederate flag offensive because they feel it represents slavery and oppression. Well, here are the facts: The Confederate flag flew over the South from 1861 to 1865. That's a total of four years. The U.S. Constitution was ratified in April 1789, and that document protected and condoned...

I think it is time that we urge our president to "draft" General Tommy Franks to be the Director of Homeland Security. I don't know about others here, but I don't want a "cop" or a "politician" for this position. I want a proven military leader. Except for endorsing President Bush, General Franks has stayed pretty clear of politics. I think he is the right man at the right time. I don't think Franks would want this job. That makes him and even better choice. Plus, I really think if the president appealed to him, he would accept. The fact...

Iraq violence will get worse, says CIA chief By David Rennie in Washington and Robin Gedye (Filed: 08/12/2004) The CIA's station chief in Baghdad has sent a bleak cable to Washington, giving warning that the situation in Iraq is getting worse and may not improve any time soon. The senior undercover operative, whose 300-man post represents the largest CIA presence abroad since the Vietnam War, offered his blunt assessment that the political, economic and security situation in Iraq was deteriorating and was likely to get worse in coming months, with more violence and clashes between ethnic and religious groups, the...

In a post titled "Glimpse into the mind of a young ohio [sic] bush [sic] voter," a DemocraticUnderground user called "RawMaterials" illustrates the intellectual superiority of Democrats (quoting verbatim): Yesterday i was out with some old college acquaintance's, the election came up(very easy with me) and i asked whom they voted for here are there response's, age, and vague reasoning. This should help us understand what is needed to get this kind of voter next time. there ages range between 21-23 male, smart, athletic, but not "into" politics or news. note, this was in a car ride home i didn't...

Exit polls reveal that President Bush may have miscalculated in endorsing pro-abortion Republican Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter in his primary battle against conservative challenger Pat Toomey. Immediately following his narrow win, Specter was quick to declare his independence from the President and re-assert his pro-abortion credentials. After his November 2 win, Specter repeated the mantra, asserting that if he were to become Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, pro-life judges need not apply. Originally believing that a strong GOP Senate candidate in Pennsylvania could put the state's 21 electoral votes in the Bush column, the President campaigned with Specter and...

President Elect's first computer analysis of the 2004 presidential race predicts that if the election were held now, Republican candidate George W. Bush would defeat Democratic candidate John Kerry. According to the computer, which takes into account current poll data, past elections, and state voting tendencies, Bush would win 283 electoral votes from 31 states, while Kerry would win 255 electoral votes from 19 states and DC. If "on the edge" states are not included, the count is Bush: 205, Kerry: 183, toss ups: 150

After the revelations of today, 10/29/04, where a US Army Major revealed that his unit had destroyed 250 tons of munitions at the Al QaQua facility, and after the latest Osama bin Laden video...I am revising my election prediction upward for Bush. I honestly believe that many more Americans will vote for Bush after Bin Laden spouted the Kerry/DNC/Michael Moore talking points, and after Kerry's knee jerk reation regarding the munitions have been wholly discredited. Here's my original projection from 10/15/2004. BACK TO JEFFHEAD.COM

Black is BlackBy Jonathan M. Stein Honesty is clearly the best policy; that is not in question. However, broadcasting one's honesty isn't always the best politics -- sometimes, in fact, it is incredibly stupid. There is no question that, in general, conservatives are more honest than their liberal counterparts. However, conservatives have a nasty habit of crowing about just how honest they are, often to their detriment. Conservatives know when they're right, when they're wrong, when they've done well, and when they've done badly. That doesn't mean that they have to stand on the rooftops and shout about it. Loudly letting...
