Police said around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday they observed three 2020 Corvettes turning onto Lovers Lane and accelerating heavily. According to the arrest report, a red Corvette reached 120 mph in the left lane and a white Corvette reached 100 mph in the right lane. The posted speed limit on the road was 45 mph. Two white students at the University of Connecticut were arrested Monday after video that showed them shouting racial slurs prompted campus protests, university police told NBC News. Jarred Mitchell Karal, 21, and Ryan Gilman Mucaj, 21, face charges of ridicule on account of race, color, or creed. RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. - A North Carolina woman is facing new drug charges after she was arrested on suspicion of bringing methamphetamine into court for a hearing on previous drug charges. Brooke Ann Kellems, 24, was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday in Randolph County on possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia charges, according to WGHP-TV. When Kellems went through a security check point at the courthouse, WGHP reported that officials spotted a round container in the metal bowl that holds personal items as a person walks through the metal detector. The U.S. Department of Justice announced Monday that two Somalis who had lived in the United States as refugees were arrested in Arizona last week before boarding a flight to Egypt where they allegedly planned to travel to join the ranks of ISIS. Court documents said that both Mohamed and Hussein entered the United States as refugees from Somalia. Mohamed had been granted lawful permanent residence status by the time he was arrested. Hussein still had refugee status.
