Actor Tom Cruise has opened a detox centre in New York for rescue workers exposed to toxic material during the 11 September attacks on the US in 2001. The centre, based in Long Island, New York, is the second detox centre to be funded by the 41-year-old movie star. In March, he raised $1.2m (£666,000) towards treatment for workers who sifted through tonnes of debris. "It's been almost three years since the attacks, and thousands are still suffering," he said.
