Pete Hegseth appeared to have a quickly lost patience for the Ukrainian plight in its fight against Russia as he took over leadership at the Pentagon last year. The Secretary of Defense – later renamed War Secretary – seemed to have a disdain for any pro-Ukraine generals left over from President Joe Biden's term, according to a New York Times report. Specifically, sources detail tension between General Christopher Cavoli, who is now retired but was commander of United States European Command from 2022 until his retirement from the Army in July 2025. One official said it remains unclear whether Hegseth...

Notably, Vann is not ‘married’ to her lesbian girlfriend, Wendy Diamond, but has been living in a “same-sex civil partnership” for years. She told BBC News: “There are still patches all over the place where people continue to struggle with...

A homeowner says living with a bear under his house has pushed him to his breaking point. In an exclusive interview with KTLA’s Jillian Smukler, he revealed plans to sue the California Department of Fish and Wildlife after being told the state will no longer help. Ken Johnson says the bear moved under his Altadena home just before Thanksgiving — and never left. “If I kept track of everything I tried, it would be Bear 14, Homeowner 0,” said Johnson, using a sports analogy. Scientists are working to understand how aging itself can be modified to prevent age-related diseases, including Alzheimer's disease. A new study has discovered that calcium alpha-ketoglutarate (CaAKG), a safe, naturally occurring metabolite commonly studied for healthy aging, can restore key memory-related brain functions that have been disrupted in Alzheimer's disease. The main aim of the study was to evaluate whether CaAKG could also enhance synaptic plasticity in the Alzheimer's brain, restore memory-related signaling, protect neurons from early degenerative changes, and contribute to healthier cognitive aging. The study shows that CaAKG helps brain cells communicate better in Alzheimer's disease models. It...

In his final day in office, New York City Mayor Eric Adams vetoed the Community Opportunity to Purchase Act (COPA), which was set to create massive hurdles and red tape for landlords to sell their buildings. COPA would have forced landlords to first offer up their property to non-profits and other city-approved entities before putting the buildings on the open market. This comes as a strong proponent of COPA, incoming Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has cited it as a strategy to get rid of bad landlords. Adams, on Wednesday, vetoed the measure which was derided by landlord groups as well as...

A new statewide survey shows New York’s bell-to-bell smartphone restrictions in schools are producing real results—fewer distractions, better classroom focus, and stronger student engagement. The findings come from more than 350 school administrators who responded to a survey in November after implementing the state’s new distraction-free policy earlier this year. The responses suggest that limiting phone use during the school day is already transforming learning environments across the state. One assistant superintendent in the Southern Tier called the shift “a game changer,” adding that students are “having conversations with each other” instead of looking down at their phones. Another principal...

This “block party” was a bust. Scores of Zohran Mamdani fans who braved freezing temperatures to celebrate the new mayor as he was publicly sworn into office Thursday were left disappointed by the bash the socialist pol had promised. Around 10,000 supporters stood outside City Hall during the event — billed as an “Inauguration for a New Era Block Party” by Mamdani’s staff — crammed into several barricaded pens without access to bathrooms or any food concession stands. “It’s definitely not a block party,” said Danny Mahabir, 30, an Astoria resident who told The Post he’d been expecting a mix...

The apex predator of the baby-killing world, Planned Parenthood, kickstarted the new year by announcing that they were shuttering one of their abortion clinics in Rolla, MO, the first in what will almost certainly be many. Sandwiched between a bowling alley and a defunct Pizza Hut, the Rolla location operated there for decades before being shut down Thursday. A press release from Planned Parenthood blamed the Trump administration for the closure: “Throughout 2025, Planned Parenthood health centers have had to contend with the deep, negative impacts of attacks on health care access, funding, and legal protections…Federal ‘defund’ efforts under the...

Gov. Ron DeSantis didn’t flinch when the Council on American-Islamic Relations sued Florida over his executive order labeling CAIR a terrorist organization. In fact, he welcomed it, framing the case as a vehicle for discovery that could expose the group’s funding sources. CAIR, which has never been designated a foreign terrorist organization by the federal government, argues the order violates due process, free speech, and federal authority over terror designations. The lawsuit tees up a constitutional showdown with implications well beyond CAIR itself: whether a Governor can unilaterally impose sweeping punitive restrictions on an American civil rights organization without criminal...

Taurasi wanted the WNBA to show the girls the money.Diana Taurasi has been one of the WNBA’s most elite players for two decades. The problem was that she was never paid like one. That’s why the 2009 MVP hopes to see the best women’s basketball players receive the compensation they deserve when the next collective bargaining agreement takes effect. “I always thought about I should’ve get paid for being the best basketball player in the world, not for doing social media or doing commercials,” Taurasi told Front Office Sports back in August. “That was one of the things I...

Milwaukee County’s convicted judge, Hannah Dugan, is asking for a new trial. Dugan’s lawyers filed a notice with the federal court on Tuesday. No one is yet saying why they are asking for a new trial, their motion does not list a specific reason. There is also no word when the official request will be filed. Dugan’s lawyers have said since her verdict came-in last week that they would be filing an appeal. Her attorney, Steve Biskupic, said on UpFront over the weekend that they want Judge Lynn Adleman to toss the jury's split verdict. Jurors convicted Dugan on a...

Wisconsin’s biggest new election law is a change that allows candidates to remove themselves from the ballot up to a week before the primary election. That law came about after Robert F Kennedy Jr tried to drop his name from the ballot in November of 2024. There is also a technical change law that reforms how towns can fill vacant clerk positions. WEC also notes that Wisconsin voters approved a voter ID constitutional amendment last spring. It goes into effect in 2026. "In April, voters approved a constitutional amendment to enshrine the state’s photo identification requirement to the Wisconsin constitution....
