The Supreme Court’s landmark opinion on same-sex marriage isn’t the only high-profile precedent the justices will have an opportunity to tinker with – or entirely scrap – when the court reconvenes this fall. ... Even before Trump was reelected, the Supreme Court’s conservatives had put a target on a Roosevelt-era precedent that protects the leaders of independent agencies from being fired by the president for political reasons. The first few months of Trump’s second term have only expedited its demise. ... A recent Supreme Court appeal from Kim Davis, a former county clerk from Kentucky who refused to issue marriage...

A week after the latest deadline to somehow resolve the trade war that Donald Trump has launched against Canada — and with Canadian officials now looking ahead to a full renegotiation of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement — many things remain unclear. But when Mark Carney spoke to reporters in British Columbia on Tuesday, he expressed clarity about at least one thing. "While we'll continue to work with the United States on the many mutually beneficial opportunities that we share in trade and investment," the prime minister said, "it is clear that we cannot count, or fully rely, on what has been...

Gov. Andy Beshear confirmed that almost 2,000 Kentucky driver's licenses have been revoked following allegations of a fraud scheme involving undocumented immigrants. The governor said 1,985 driver's licenses were discovered during routine reviews of credential applications and have since been revoked. The revoked credentials, if used, would not work at an airport and would be flagged if pulled over at a traffic stop," Beshear said on Wednesday. Beshear addressed the criminal investigation after a news report detailed a former clerk's allegations earlier this week. A former clerk told WDRB News that her co-workers were selling driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants...

President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will hold a meeting together on Monday afternoon before they are joined by European officials traveling to Washington for key talks on the future of the Russia-Ukraine war. Two sources told NewsNation’s Libbey Dean and Kevin Bohn that Trump and Zelensky will hold the initial meeting, which will also be attended by Vice President Vance. That will be a rerun of the participants from an Oval Office meeting in February that went badly off the rails as Vance and Trump criticized Zelensky over his handling of the war, and for not being more...

With less than 24 hours to go before he meets Donald Trump again, Volodymyr Zelensky has hailed the president's "historic decision" to offer Ukraine security guarantees if a peace deal is reached with Russia. It's unclear exactly what shape this support might take, but Trump envoy Steve Witkoff today suggested the US and its partners could offer "Article 5 like language" - reflecting Article 5 of the Nato agreement that states an armed attack on one member country would be considered an attack on all members.

A string of Ukrainian politicians and public figures condemned the idea of handing over unoccupied land to Russia for peace on Sunday, arguing that their country had not been defeated and should not be forced into a surrender. The hardening of the mood came at the end of a weekend where there was first ridicule and disgust in Ukraine at the red-carpet treatment of Vladimir Putin by Donald Trump at their summit in Alaska, followed by frustration as it appeared that Trump was siding with the Russian leader. Trump told European leaders that he believed a peace deal could be...

I don’t know where in his Quran it states that it’s okay for a woman to be on the streets selling their body,” Hizzoner told reporters Sunday. “I don’t know what Quran he is reading. It’s not in my Bible,” he added. “As a man who said he is of faith, I don’t quite understand what...

VIDEOIt's a good thing I recorded videos of Obidos during our Portugal trip because the memories of it were so magical as to seem to have been perhaps just a dream. No cars (except official vehicles) on the town's roads. It was like a trip back hundreds of years or more in time. it was weird because after we arrived at our historical hotel in the evening, the town seemed dead with almost nobody there. Imagine our surprise when the next morning, after our continental breakfast, we opened the hotel door and saw the streets filled with thousands of tourists....

It's said that when someone makes a positive or neutral statement, then follows it with a "but," what follows negates what went before, and reflects the speaker's real opinion. Thus it was that on Sunday's edition of CNN's State of the Union, host Jake Tapper three times mentioned that Russian attacks killed five Ukrainians after President Trump's meeting with Putin ended without a ceasefire. In his final mention, Tapper said to Mike Pence: "I'm not blaming it on President Trump,it's obviously President Putin's fault. But, if the ceasefire had happened on Friday, those five Ukrainians would be alive."Gotcha, Jake. You're...

According to a La Brújula Verde report, excavations at the site of Uşakli Höyük in central Anatolia unearthed the remains of several infants, which may provide new insight into little-known Hittite burial practices.
